A Lesson in Patience

Update: the plumber had to go and buy parts, but he finished repairing the leak in time for us to leave about 3:30 pm. We stopped in Richmond for the famous Bill's Barbecue and limeade at dinnertime and we just arrived in DC, to stay with daughter #2 for the night. Tomorrow we wend our way to NJ and NYC. I don't know if I'll get to post anymore until we return, but I'll regale you with details and perhaps photos after that.
I almost forgot to tell you: Mike, who can be found at:
Has tapped me for an award. He is a Prince and a Scholar, and he makes me very proud! Go and see who else is in the group.
Don't you hate delays? If you're champing at the bit to do something, and you get delayed, do you whine and pout like a child?

I am trying very hard NOT to do that!

We were supposed to set out on a trip mid-morning. We had been noticing for a day or two that #1. the humidity level in the house seemed higher than usual, and #2. the hot water wasn't as hot as it usually is. So........mr. kenju went under the house to check things out and was met in the face by a warm spray of water - a very large spray - shooting out of a pipe that brings water to the house from the water heater. There is a small lake under there too.

Mystery solved.

Now, we are waiting for a plumber to arrive; hoping that he will have the materials necessary to repair the leak in his truck. Otherwise, we will have to wait for him to go to the shop and get the materials and come back. Uuuuuugggggh!

Wish us luck? Say a little prayer? Do a little dance? Sing a little song? (Get down tonight!)..........LOL

I am dancing and singing with all of my fingers crossed. Steve is home so I just might do a little boogying with him to help out as well.....maybe the plumber can put one of those pressure clamp things on for a quick easy fix today and then come back another.

Poor you! Been there, swam that river, got the T-shirt, lol! I hope you get that leak fixed soon, and the plumber has his act together :)

Well, you obviously still have your sense of humor!

Yeah. Me too. I hate it when I'm trying to get out of the house and keep getting delayed.

With all that hot water, how about a cuppa tea? Sorry, just trying to make lemonade.

I am right there with you Judy when it comes to delays....I think I'm a pouter. Thank God you found out what the problem was....can you imagine how big that lake would have been under your house? And....be thankful it was outside of your house....not in. That was ME around Xmas. Hope it gets remedied fast so you can still go on your little trip. Fingers crossed...

What kind of water heater dares stand between you and your limeade?! It is the work of a very very bad demon. I know it.

Hope your well on your way by now, and sipping some limeade on your way to the big apple!

Safe travels.

Oh no! I hope the problem is resolved by now, and that you're on the road!

No way! Ugh, I had that happen a few years ago and there is nothing fun about a lake under or in your house. Here's hopping on one foot, singing the national anthem that all is well.

that kind of thing is always a bummer, but even more so when you're trying to get out of town. Have a good trip and congratulations on your blogger award.

I hate anything related to plumbing and am a very impatient woman. I recently had to change a very ancient toilet and am so fed up with the new one already. It's supposed to have two different ways of flushing. Well, it doesn't work and a lot of the time the only way to stop the water from running is to turn off the little faucet that comes on the side.
The plumber has been called 5 times already!!!

I suppose it is better to have happened whilst you are still there but what a bore. I've got everything crossed that you get away soon and a have a ball! Have a safe journey!

Congrats Judy! You clever girl!

I suppose it was good that the leak was found before you left... it would have been horrible to come back and find your house had floated away in a mud slide. Plumbers... can't live with them, can't live without them. Have a good trip.

I am so excited to be given an award with you! Isnt that cool? Who would have thought that when I was a little girl? :)

But... But... You forgot, "Make a little love." In the song! Right before "Get down tonight."

Congrats on the award! Well deserved.

You're in NJ this weekend, and I'm going to NC in June! There's some cosmic symmetry there, but I don't know what it is. ;)

I'll have to catch up a little here - I see you're on a trip. Dang. If my leg was better, I'd have driven up to try to see you in NJ or NY.

Have fun! (now off to wiggle self in seat to that old disco song!)
