These people are my birth parents. I have written previously (on JustAskJudy) about being adopted, and about meeting my birth mother when I was 57.

My son is very nearly the spitting image of my birth father, and my younger daughter is very much like my birth mother, only prettier. Her chin and jawline are identical. She won't let me post a photo of her, or I'd compare the two. My son's photo was posted on 2-19.

If you missed the previous post about them, go to:

Hi there! Just catching up on your commentary and old photos....and on BEAGLES!!

I came home from work today, made dinner and promptly fell asleep! Now it's the middle of the night and I'm wide awake reading blogs!!

Thank you for the quotes and the beagle story.......made me laugh (quietly so as not to wake anyone :) )

Your pics and the stories behind them always intrigue me.....hmmmmm i think it's time to go through some of the old photos from my family history.....it's been a while.

have a great weekend, Judy.......

Hope you win Carmi's "caption this" this week......your headline was hilarious.

Utterly fascinating how these genetic things work, isn't it Judy? It is so nice to see these pictures having read the posts about being adopted and meeting your birth mother....!It must be very meaningful to have filled in these visual gaps as well as other things....

Love the new background color of your blog....It is very very pretty and soothing, too!

I just read your adoption story, don't remember reading it before, but it is amazing. I have an adopted son (he's now an adult), but he was adopted at 11, so he knew his mother who had died. Through him, I got to know a lot of adopted children--it seems they have magnets that draw them together. Thanks for sharing.

BTW, I'm going to be in the Wilmington and Pinehurst areas this week.

I know how it is for someone not let you post a picture of them... that is a handicap I work around all the time.

You are fortunate to have those photos and the story to go with them.

I feel like I read this before but if I had why didn't I comment. Was I too shy and didn' know you then?! I have tears in my eyes. These kind of complicated reunions always tear me up. I fascinated by the draw the causes the coincidences and the honest way you told it, the feelings around it so mixed. The few people I know of today who have adopted keep some contact with the birth parents for the children from day one.

It's amazing how you can see the resemblence in your children to your birth parents. It must have been great to fill in the gaps in your family history after so much time, but difficult too I think from reading your post about the meeting.

Michele sent me today :-)

I had never read about your adoption story before. Quite an amzing story. Those resemblances are always surprising. One of my friends adopted a daughter who looks just like her although the mother is a brunette and the daughter a blonde. Resemblance is not only about features, it's also about facial expression and tone of voice.

Hi Judy! I'll have to go back into your archives and read more... Right now I'm on my way up to Sugar Bowl with my youngest (17) boy to enjoy some of that (it's about time!) new snow!

Michele sends her best,
Mike

Those are both fine looking people and your kids are lucky to resemble them. I went and read your old post about your birth mother and it brought a tear to my eyes.

Hi Judy! I was just wondering why you hadn't updated your blog (nothing showing up on bloglines) and then I went and remembered you had moved, so I 'm catching up.

Beautiful parents.

I was also adopted and thru much searching, I know who my birth mother is and I think I have a correct address, but can't find a number. Wonder how a letter would go over?

Thanks for posting this. My son is the only person in my life I've ever seen who resembles me. My daughter does somewhat also, but she really favors The Evil Twin more.

I hurt in places that I didn't know I had places! It was fun, but I'm not 17 anymore. For that matter, I'm not 27 or 37 anymore either - but I'm not too old to recover. We had a blast and got out just before the next storm blew in.

Thanks for you comment earlier - my mom reads my blog, and the comments. I'm sure she'll appreciate yours - just as soon as she and my dad return from Las Vegas.

Genetics! They just don't lie, do they? It's so interesting how when birth parents finally are a part of your life, you see all these things that have made you...well, you! Just fascinating stuff, isn't it?

Here via Michele. I love the new blog, btw.

It's always fun to see who in our bloodline our children resemble most. I'm really glad for you that you have these photos of your birth parents.
