A Few Pix + I'm Goo-o-o-in to the Chapel.....

Click to embiggen. This is where I worked today; the Pinehurst Hotel, scene of the 2008 Jim Valvano Golf Classic. Here are two photos of flowers we did for the Friday night Gala.

The colors are mostly orange and green.

Mel did this buffet centerpiece.

A friend and I have been church hopping for the last several weeks, trying to find one that we think is a good fit for us. This past Sunday, we went to a nearby United Methodist Church, and she found a few friends and so did I. The Pastor for our service was a bride for whom I did wedding flowers years ago, and her husband is someone I have known since he was 14 (he's now about 40). The last I knew of them, they were at another church but I learned they moved to this one about 4 years ago. This guy was in my son's wedding, but they have lost touch with each other over the years. It was a nice surprise to see both.

His wife was a Youth Pastor the last I knew, so I was surprised to see/hear her preach a sermon to adults, and do a darn good job of it. She used humor, too, which is always a plus for me. I don't know if we'll join this one, but we are going to go back next week and see what happens.

My spell-checker almost had a conniption fit when I sent an email with the words "Tres Vaqueros" and "chimichangas" in it. That's my favorite Mexican restaurant and my favorite thing to eat. Yours, too, huh Alice? Too bad you aren't here to share it with me.

Please Note: I am working hard tomorrow (as well as today and yesterday) and I am not able to visit or comment as much as I'd like. Catch you later!

Ready or Not?

Ready or not, someday it will all come to an end.

There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours or days.

All the things you collected, whether treasure or forgotten will pass to someone else.

Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance.

It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed.

Your grudges, resentments, frustrations, and jealousies will finally disappear. So, too, your hopes, ambitions, plans, and to-do lists will expire.

The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away.

It won't matter where you came from, or on what side of the tracks you lived, at the end.

It won't matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant. Even your gender and skin color will be irrelevant.

So what will matter? How will the value of your days be measured?

What will matter not what you bought, but that you built, not what you got, but what you gave?

What will matter is not your success, but your significance.

What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught.

What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example.

What will matter is not your competence, but your character.

What will matter is not your memories, but the memories that live in those who loved you.

What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what.

Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident.

It is not a matter of circumstance but of choice.

Choose to live a life that matters.

This one came in email too!
