SLOW DOWN, don't you know school is in session???

In my errand running today, I passed through five different school zones, at the time when children were getting out of school.

I slowed down to the posted speed - which is 30-35 MPH - and immediately had 5-10 cars pass me by, with either rude hand signals or indignant looks. I know what they were thinking...
"Why is that old, white-haired woman driving so slowly?"

The answer is - school is now in session all over the United States, and while the posted speed limits and times may vary from place to place, the law is clear....

YOU NEED TO SLOW DOWN IN SCHOOL ZONES.

And if you don't want to do that, at least allow ME to follow the law. God forbid any of us would hit a child!

Let's hope they follow your example.

Our school zone speed limits are 25mph. I absolutely love it when a speeder passes me and is immediately pulled over by the police. (They closely monitor our school zones plus bus drivers can take tags and turn in the speeders who pass them) Those tickets are not cheap. My nephew was struck and nearly killed in a school zone when he was 8. What in God's name are people thinking when they take such risks with children's lives?

Nothing burns me up more than this - except maybe people who park in handicapped spots and don't have handicapped tags or a placard. Grrrrr.

And did you notice that many of the people who are driving through the flashing lights in the school zone and are doing 10-20 MPH faster than the limit are in that school zone to PICK UP THEIR OWN KIDS?

Never fails to amaze this old lady either.

I agree Judy but I have to admit that I try to stay away from the known school routes because it tries my patiece.

Our school zone speed limits are 20mph and people mostly seem to observe it. I also drive out of my way to avoid the school zones when they are in business, except for when I am picking up the grands, then I go early to find a decent parking place, I take a book.

Let you police dept know what you are seeing. They can post that area to make some money and save our most precious products.

What is wrong with people?? I find it really worrisome that people seem to be so "self-invo;ved" that they don't even notice what is happening right around them. The Speed Limits ARE Important, especially around schools....!

We live near in a school when we are in Phoenix, and the speed limit there is 15mph, and I think it's an excellent idea. Shame on people for overtaking you!
