Getting it off the house is a priority, as you may imagine. (see the post below for more photos.) Mr. K spoke to the insurance company today, and was told to get estimates for tree removal and hauling away. I'm concerned about the chimney, since it seems to be held up by the tree alone, and removing the tree may allow the chimney to fall. If it falls, the damages could be much greater than they are right now - so it is imperative that the company that removes the tree is capable of shoring up the chimney beforehand. Wish us luck. |

You have been on my mind all day! Keeping everything crossed for you right now.
Wish you luck and than some!
I hope your insurance covers everything and you get your yard and house back to normal soon!
Good luck!
Find a decent mason before the tree company comes - they will allay many what-if fears.
So sorry you have to deal with this!
Gadzooks! sorry its such a mess...at least you made it through ok otherwise, right>
Have been thinking about you all week-end. Glad things weren't worse.
So very sorry for you.
How scary! Please be careful.
Trees are lovely, in their place. Which is not on your roof! So sorry for all your worries,
tiff is right - get someone to look at the chimney first, maybe they could shore it up before the tree comes down.
I hope you can get a good company to do the job. Usually after a storm,it is hard to get good workers as demand is so high.
Hope it is resolved soon. That would drive me nuts also.
Make sure you get good references on the tree removal service. The right company will safely and artistically remove the tree and it is an operation to watch for sure. So glad you only suffered tree and house damage and not bodily damage!
Oh Judy.........what a mess! Hope the insurance comes through and things get back to normal soon! Glad no one was hurt!
Glad y'all are okay!!! Hope you get that tree taken care of quickly!!!!
"All I Can Think About...."
I think you have enough to think about. I'm thinking that, as big a hassle as the cleanup/fix up will be, I'm glad that no one was injured.

It always takes so long doesn't it? Getting quotes etc. I hope you find a company that can get rid of the tree without further damage to the chimney.
I keep thinking about you off and on all day.I'm so glad you're safe and so sorry about the giant mess you've been left with.
There are some masterful urban loggers out there. A couple of years ago my kids had a 100 foot spruce fall in a wind storm. It was propped up by their fence and a few roots and was dangling over the second floor of their house. The tree geniuses got it out of there without letting it collapse the fence or fall on the house. Amazing, may you find someone as good.
Judy, I'm so sorry for the damage. I was surprised that the Raleigh area was hit so much more than we were but then I realized that you are just a wee bit more to the East and that made all the difference.
At least I'd imagine your daughter in Whispering Pines is OK.
Wishing you very good luck.
Oh my. I hope all goes well. The picture of the tree down is unreal. Will be thinking of you...
Fingers crossed dear.
