I was otherwise active. I pruned the mutant forsythia that lives just off my deck; the one my daughters said on Sunday should be trimmed - not knowing that I had already cut it back 3' about 2 weeks ago. It is ridiculous how fast that plant grows, considering I never fertilize it and the only water it gets is what falls from the sky.
The roses got pruned too, and then I nailed two trellises to the deck fence, so the bush would have more support as it grows longer and longer canes. (Don't tell anyone that the trellises have been there, just leaning up against the fence for 18 months.)
The health club was on my agenda for this afternoon, but I was told not to bother since the weather people were forecasting thunder and lightning storms, and when that happens, the health club closes the pool. Want to take a guess on how much rain we had? (about 3 minutes worth, unaccompanied by thunder or lightning.) Bah. The next time I want to go to the health club - I'll go alone.
Tomorrow I will go to the Flower Shuttle for the first time in about seven weeks. I heard that others have taken over "MY" spot during that time, but I'll have to wrest it back, won't I?! Wish me luck.

yeah, well you got more rain than we did! You know my kids are still reeling from the tornadoes and so whenever it gets ominous outside the kids are sitting on the edges of their seat so when it turns out to be nothing, well I'm thankful but it seems so unnecessary to get the kids all worked up.
spring has done sprung around here, hasn't it?
Roses. In May. I'll never stop marveling at it.
Love the new pump house art!
Dang!! You are so lucky!!!!! My irises are looking bushy and I think they'll be pretty when they bloom but it's still pretty cold in Ohio. I'm hoping to do some planting soon!
We had high summer weather in March and April, now we are back to wet and windy! :(
Enjoy the flower shuttle and bring the camera!
Our roses are in full bloom here. The Evil Twin has cut one to the ground and even dug out roots, but it comes back every year! Who said roses were dainty?
Good luck with the 'wresting.'
It would be late for us to prune roses now.
We live on a hill and it is a drought area so we can be surrounded by rain and be dry. We are having a very dry spell just now.
Good to see you can still "hammer."
I consider yard work exercise and forgo the treadmill.
Know what you mean about the Forsythia. Mine was just scraggly for two years, now it has become agressively active. I don't walk too close to it for fear I will get snared.
Now go fight for your spot.
you go girl!!
get your spot back :)
We had an inch early on Friday and another small amount on Saturday. Then Sunday afternoon a sudden storm came up and it rained .3in in ten minutes... then the sun came back out. It is that time of year.
Sounds like the weather is fouling up everyone's plans these days. Would you believe that yesterday I wore my winter parka? My rule is that if the high is 10C or less it's parka time. I don't think that's ever happened in May before. Yikes!
The weather, we got our usual month of May average in 36 hours over the weekend, and more besides. I bought veggie seeds that all had short growing times on them since it looks like it will be later than sooner the ground warms up.
Get your spot back, like King Richard returning from the crusades, claim your own.
It is truly sad that you don't have ENOUGH to do. LOL
