Golden Oldies

These children are my mother's siblings, before she was born. Since Mom was born in 1908, I would date this photo at about 1907. I know the boy on the right was born in 1900. I think I have posted this photo before, but since I have nothing else at the moment, I'm posting it again. Have a good weekend.

We forget these days that boys wore miniature suits.... and look at those neck ties. Are they button boots that the boys are wearing. laundry was hard work back then.

Happy Mother's Day(UK) for tomorrow!

I have always thought that the colorization of the black and white photos back then required such artists..... especially with the red hair. My grandparents never had the money to get their family photos colorized.... with four of the five having red hair, it probably would have been remarkable!

I love the way it's been hand coloured.

Have a good weekend!

That's so beautiful to me! I have dozens of lovely old photos in unusual frames on every spare surface of our home. When we put it on the market recently, we were instructed to put them away and I felt disloyal. Those photos are ART. And shrine to our context.

Wonderful little ties, imagine having to wash and iron ties then for little boys.

I don't remember seeing this photo before....but oh, it is so wonderful. I just love old pics...and the color technique that was used...just beautiful. And the clothes....priceless.

If you posted that photo before I must have missed it because it is new to me. Love it and love the bit of added color.

Makes me think of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn in their Sunday best.
