Click to enlarge. Have you ever received a letter asking you to donate to a hospital foundation in honor of their doctors??? This might be okay if we actually went to doctors who work at this hospital - but we haven't in years. The last time I had a doctor who was affiliated with Rex Hospital, he dropped me like a hot potato as soon as I became eligible for Medicare. So I won't be donating anything in support of or gratitude for him. Would you? |

Yes I have, and no I would not. The mail solicitations outnumber my bills these days.
No! But I was once asked as a member of the public to contribute to a retirement gift for a local Dr - that I had never seen - the whole thing was organised by his MOTHER who went door to door in the town!
Boy, I have seen it all now. This is a hoot, I have never seen a hospital foundation do this. I agree with you, I wouldn't donate to it. They must think you are from the generation that thought doctors were gods instead of the generation that knows doctors are morons :)
Not only would I not send a donation, I would tell them I wasn't going to, and I'd tell them why, naming names. I'm a vindictive bitch, I am.
We are very grateful for our recent experience with the medical profession but in fact our practice doctors are now much better paid and do much less than they did previously.
It doesn't make sense and I like to have a much clearer picture of whom I am giving to.
That is just beyond weird. Don't they get enough of our money? Is that like a "tip".
If my doctor is deserving, he all ready knows I appreciate him.
It reminds me of when the sheriff's dept solicits money when our taxes all ready pay them.
Oh, puh-leeeeze! I'll donate to some hospitals when they start cutting me some breaks on the $25.00 tube of Neosporin or the $128.00 toilet "hat."
Go down to the local sheriff's office and surreptitiously tape that one up on the Wanted wall.
Wow, no one ever sent a letter like that from any hospital I ever worked at!
I've never gotten a letter like this from the two hospitals my docs practice in--and I hope I never do. I've worked around fund-raising in a support capacity for so many years that this doesn't surprise me. As for your doc in 2006, that is so weird and rude.
Donating to doctors? Really? OMG??
I have not recieved anything quite so bold...But I keep getting letters from some of the local Hospitals asking me to remember them and use them if I need to....WHAT???
I find that really terrible. Not quite as bad as the Pharmeceudical Company's being able to advertis in Magazines and on TV, but close up there!!! What must it cost them to send out a letter like you got or what I get?? It is unconcionable(?) ...
