We Have Two Computers....

or we did until Monday, when my husband downloaded an email video and fried his.  He shut it down as soon as he saw the message about the malware, and when I got home, I re-booted to see if I could fix the problem. No way. The message I got says that the malware has infected my virus program (Avast) and cannot be deleted in the "normal" way - whatever that is.

The odd thing is that he sent the video to my computer (before he knew it was bad) and I opened it with no trouble. Luckily I decided not to forward it to anyone. It was a very funny video, so I'm not sure why I opted not to send it on - but I'm sure glad I didn't.

He called his trusty computer tech, so we hope to have it running again soon. Meanwhile, I will have to share mine with him....   :-/ as well as :-(

It sure is strange...but then again I know nothing about these things...good luck with his computer (I normally share a lot, but I just don't like sharing MY pc!)

Ouch, sorry your hubby's computer got hit. I just hate the creeps that send out these virus's. I hope they get bad karma the rest of their lives!

We have 2 computers also, my hubby's is the business computer & mine is for my little store, my manuscripts/research, blog & ordering anything on line :)

Glad you have a tech, hope he gets it up and running for your hubby soon

Glad things are OK.

We have 3 computers, his, mine, and a laptop for trips that I guess is ours. Past weekend mine got bad virus, had to get my computer guru to walk me through fix. I am debating which anti-virus and spyware software is best. Have use 2-3, wish I could decide which to use.

Odd how it fried him and not you. I am a poor email buddy, I open nothing and since my kbps speed is so slow,it is too painful to bother with videos. Guess poopy service has its advantages.

Viruses are a problem. I'm thankful I have a really good security programme, which I had to get after my bank account was hacked into.

The bank wouldn't let me go back to internet banking until I had bought this different progamme and installed it!

That's terrible - I hope he gets it fixed. I got a virus on my computer at work just by looking up lyrics to a song. When I opened the link, I got some sort of malware. I thought I'd never hear the end of that.

Daughter's laptop got hit just last night. The restore feature put her laptop back 48 hours and she is good to go!

If I can get to my "Start" I can go to my programs, then to accessories, then to system tools and then to system restore. I will go back a few days before the virus hit and it will remedy the problem.

If Ron's computer goes on the fritz he doesn't have an alternative because he can't use my laptop. No, I'm not grinning...much:)

We didn't know way back then that "n sickness and in health" was going to include computer virus. Did we?

I am very leery of opening a lot of this garbage that's sent via email. I can't believe how long my list of scam stuff is that my McAfee picks up. I just delete it all.

Interesting that it fried his computer and not yours. Do you have a different anti-virus program? Well, I hope your hubby's computer can be repaired quickly and all will be well soon.

Luckily MTL has no interest in computers. Marriages have foundered for less:)

I feel Mr Kenju's pain. I was without my laptop for a week after clicking on an innocent link! :(
