Surprise...

Snow started falling here about 8pm Christmas night and this is what we saw when we got up this morning. The photos were taken about 8:15 a.m., and since then, we got another 3-4 inches.

We were supposed to have company for dinner tonight, but it was quickly apparent that would have to be postponed. Not one bit of it melted during the day; all the tree limbs and branches are still covered. The weathermen tell us that tomorrow morning will bring a slippery mess and of course, they are advising that we all stay home. I can do that tomorrow, but I am supposed to work on Tuesday. I sure hope that I can!
Snow days always bring out the domestic in me. Since we did our family gathering on Christmas Eve and yesterday was spent reclining - I knew I had to move around today or risk freezing in reclining position (not from cold -  from inactivity!) Don't ask me why this box appeared around my text - I have no idea and I don't like it. I cleaned the master bedroom and bathroom this morning and cooked all afternoon. I made Great Northern bean soup in the crock pot, with the help of the spiral ham bone from Thanksgiving. It is luscious, with floating bits of ham, onion and celery. I also made turkey stock with the carcasses of two turkey breasts. It is amazing how much meat you can glean when you boil the bones to make stock. My cats will eat like queens for days, plus there is enough to make turkey soup and turkey salad, in addition to the slices for sandwiches! Cabin fever will set in tomorrow morning, so I'll have to find another project to take on. Should I take down and pack the Christmas decorations or leave them up until our company comes for dinner on January 8th?

Wow, that looks like our part of the world in winter :) This winter however, we did not get any snow. Looks like you got it. Glad you are staying in, its rough going being out in snow this deep.

I always wondered when to take down the decorations. I always did it Jan 2nd. Now I know, the 6th :)

take care :)

Hi Judy: my daughter and husband are with me from New York. Of course they thought it was nothing and we were out and about on the roads by 11am. I think we got much less snow than you did just 60miles north of us. Hang in there.

Leave them up... that is the part of Christmas that I have problems with. Some people take down the decorations the day after and it seems such a waste... it takes so long to get everything up and then you just have to take them down again. My grandmother had her Christmas room in their basement and she left it all year 'round... no decorating necessary at Christmas then.

We had three inches before bedtime last night and when Nyssa and I flipped back the lid of the hot tub (with three inches on top) and got in for forty five minutes... the open lid started accumulating. I left my shade up and about 5AM when I woke and turned over, I saw that the usually clear line of sight to the stop lights about a mile away was gone, a complete white out. By noon we had over 91/2 inches and more coming down. It is still snowing but much less. Winds have drifted the snow into unusual patterns and someone has built a HUGE 8ft tall snowman down the street, complete with top hat and scarf. We saw only two or three cars all day on our street and Nyssa and I got out with our less than adequate flat blade shovels and tried to dig out behind one of the vans, as she is to fly to Chicago tomorrow and as yet her flight is still a go. (The one before it is cancelled.) I am so NOT looking forward to getting her to the airport... I think I would do best with a dog sled.

Well it certainly looks to be a pretty snow but in all honesty I'm not sitting here looking at your photos with envy! :)

It looks like when you added the text you are referring to it got coded as part of the second photo, therefore put in the photo box. I don't use BlogSpot so I can't tell you specifically what to do. Might try deleting your second photo, then re-enter it, then when it looks to your liking, re-enter your text.

Other than that, it looks fine so I wouldn't worry about it but if you're like me, you will anyway. lol

Aw, leave them up. You did such a terrific job and the house always looks so desolate when they come down.
That snow is just beautiful. Don't fight it, just enjoy being snow bound. Cook, eat, drink in the beauty and work on a good book.

We got the same snow and yesterday shoveled our huge long driveway...just so we would not have too much to take off and let melt today!

Just as our snow is thawing it lands on you. Do take care and I suggest you leave the decorations in place until all your entertaining is over.
