Even More from the Governor's Mansion ~ 2010

I did these three arrangements; tall, medium and low (under the console.) This table sits on the right as you enter the Mansion foyer.

My friend Pam did a pair of these on the newel posts of the grand staircase.

This is the "children's tree" on the sun porch at the Mansion. It is decorated mostly with ornaments hand-made by NC school children.

This is the tree in the Gentleman's Parlour. The trustees who work at the Mansion (inmates from the state prison) set-up and light the trees for us - and we think they do a terrific job! I have a few more photos from the Mansion to show you and then it is on to the State Capitol and a private home here in Raleigh that Pam and I have been doing for many years. Come Thursday, I will be finished with commercial and private decor - and then it will be time to start on Casa Kenju!

Judy,

Years ago my Granddaughter, Julie, won a contest for making the best decoration of anyone in her school for one of the Christmas trees in the White House.

She was invited by President Clinton to place her ornament on the tree and it was the most exciting day of her life....

The next day the parents and Grandparents of the winners were allowed into the White House to see the decorations the children had made.

It was so exciting.

How interesting the inmates take part. I'd love to be a fly on the wall. It must surely brighten their day.

Gosh you guys are good.
I too think it is great that the inmates get to pitch in. So much more rewarding than wacking weeds on the roadside.
How you have enough left to do your own home amazes me.

I love the tall arrangement on the console table and the trees. It is such an inclusive project at the Governor's mansion with the children and prisoners playing a part.

Now enjoy the party!

You must have so much fun doing all this ... not to mention the satisfaction. I couldn't imagine living in such splendor...but I love to see it.

Beautiful, festive arrangements, Judy. My favorite thing, though, is the children's tree. :-)

Stay warm!

I especially love the tree in the children's room and the fact that the inmates come to help decorate. Have you come up for air yet?
