It's Not Unusual....

said Tom Jones.....oh, but it IS....for me to have blooming potted plants* in the middle of November. Every time I look out the kitchen windows I am pleased and surprised to see the neon geranium blooms and the royal purple petunias. I have not played with the color on these photos; they really are neon!
And a close-up - so you can see the touch of red-orange in the center of the petals.

I guess that grass seed we had put down in September took hold fairly well, even though we had no rain for weeks after it was seeded. Mr. kenju had to water it by hand or with the sprinklers; no easy task with the size of our yard. The yard men were here blowing leaves this morning and I thought I'd better take a photo before the rest of the leaves fall, although that doesn't usually happen here until February. Oak leaves are notorious for staying on the branches until the last minute of winter.

We, too, are having an extraordinary autumn and November. I spoke with my daughter on the phone in NYC last evening, and she walked up to Bryant Park while we chatted, where they have the ice skating rink ready for skaters, and it was balmy with roses blooming nearby! I remember visiting Scotland in November years ago (actually I was pregnant with her . . .), and roses were blooming, since the climate is more moderate there.

The neon geraniums are beautiful and voluptuous.

Those are amazing flowers! I have winter pansies, but they are struggling a bit!

We had masses of leaves on our lawn, and Mr.G was all boot-faced at the thought of having to cflear them. Then we had SW gales (100 miles an hour in places!) and all our leaves disappeared like magic!

I'm not asking where they went - I just don't want them back!!

I have a wristband the colour of your potted plants. You can see me coming for miles.

Have a great weekend!

I didn't! I had to go back and look at them close up! Beautiful photos.

Water THAT grass by hand?! Crazy!

Long slow autumn here too, some flowers have survived but the big prize was the leaves slowly turning fiery red here, and then yellow. Quite a show, usually, it's instant yellow and then drop!

Me too. How long can this last? The best part is that I'm still eating Swiss chard and turnip greens from the garden!

Was she hiding in the second photo?
I love the pink colour.

Like Gilly, we had storms on Thursday night taking out the power to 6,000 homes and bringing down many old trees. Thankfully roads are cleared and the power restored. This morning brought blue skies and bright sunshine.

It's been pretty here, too. When I drove back from Toledo, the leaves were magnificent but I was too sick to stop and take photos!

I love your yard!!! It's perfect!!!!!!

OK, so I had to look more closely, but the fairy is in the third picture.
I too, love your yard.

It took a while but I found her on close up. Hope she was sprinkling happy dust around.
Love those neon geraniums. Will have to find some.
Right now my plants are so confused.

I did! Flying over the blue flowers top right.
When the weather is overcast those colours glow even more. Lovely to look at.

I saw the fairy. Yes I did, but not until you asked. I noticed that my azalea had a blossom on it today and that doesn't usually happen until spring, as I recall.
