"The game of life is the game of boomerangs. Our thoughts, deeds and words return to us sooner or later with astounding accuracy."
Florence Scovel Shinn, writer, artist and teacher (1871-1940)
I doubt that Florence knew how prophetic she was.....considering the internet (and especially Facebook!), although I think she was referencing "Whatsoever ye sow, so shall ye reap."
Can you think of an instance when your thoughts, words or deeds returned to (haunt) you?

I think most of my words, deeds and thoughts come back to haunt me! :D
I am not very careful so I often get bitten in the butt by my own words. Karma rules my life.
When I was in JR high, that really rank time of life when the new onset of hormones has you in a tizzy most of the time. Well, my Mom thought I would like to go to the opera in Chicago with them and I didn't want to go. I even offered to babysit Stephen (he was little then... or at least young), but she kept harping on it. I finally said, "Quit bugging me!". If I could count how many times through the next years I heard... "I guess I'm bugging you" from her.. well, it was a long time. I know that my words must have hurt deeply and that it was probably the first time she realized that she no longer KNEW my deepest thoughts or dreams or "music styles". I know this because I had a similar moment in time with Nyssa. It is a growing up thing. So we all have let it go. Now if we say the word "bugging" it most likely refers to Japanese beetles.
I had to smile when I read your post. I just got done going thru my old posts. There was one that I had put incorrect info on. So, I changed it & yes someone had put a comment on it. I'm rubbing the bite now (LOL)
Oh my yes. So many things I said have come back to bite me. For instance, I used to think that I was a bit snide when my husband would not drink coffee late in the day. Now I know it does keep me awake and I have to regret my earlier attitude.
I measure my words out pretty carefully when it counts, so I can't think of anything I've said that has come back to bite my butt. Nothing memorable, at least.
