Wednesday, October 13

As you may know, I worked a lot last week; two days of at least six hours per day and two days that were longer. It doesn't sound like much until you know my age and the fact that I stand on my feet the majority of the time I am working. I'm not crowing - just stating a fact. I have noticed that my stamina is not as good as it was five years ago. So.......I'm t.i.r.e.d......and blogging is suffering because of it. If I am sitting here in my chair at the computer, all I really want to do is check Facebook and read a few blog posts - not write one. You'll forgive me, won't you? And hang around until I get my mojo back?

Five women from the neighborhood went downtown to the NCMH - North Carolina Museum of History - to see a furniture exhibit on Tuesday. The furniture was all built by a NC free man of color, Thomas Day, during the 1830's and 40's.  He was quite a craftsman, and was well known in this area for his good quality furnishings. The exhibit has quite a few pieces (many on loan to the museum), as well as a model workshop of the type he had., with lots of old wood-working tools. I took lots of photos, and I will put them here some day soon.

After the exhibit, we went to Caffe Luna for lunch, where two of us had calamari atop a Caesar salad, and one had pumpkin raviolis. I'm not sure what the others ate; I was too busy devouring mine to notice. It was pretty good! The last time I ate there, I had either risotto or pasta with mushrooms, and it was excellent, but they don't have it on the menu any more, and I was disappointed. Maybe they'll read this and put it back!

Our NC State Fair starts this week. I haven't decided if I'm going or not. I'd like to see the exhibits and the flower arranging competitions, and visit the petting zoo and hold baby chickens, etc. but I'm not sure it is worth the noise, the crowds and all the walking. Of course, there are the deep-fried bacon with cheesy mashed potato bites, the roasted corn on the cob, the sausage and pepper sandwiches, the home-made fudge......maybe I will go after all.......LOL

Love Italian food!

I think you deserve a rest! We'll all be here when you are up to writing again.

Anyway this was a great post for someone who isn't posting! :D

If you go to the fair I am sure you will enjoy it. I think it might just seem too much right now as you are tired. I get that a lot since my operation last year. I can't do even a fraction of what I used to without practically falling asleep on my feet!

You day out sounds wonderful. You deserve a rest :)

More arteries are clogged at state fairs than at any other place on earth! ;)

Where does it say that you have to write a post every day?
Be a little more kind to yourself and don't drive yourself so hard.
It would be tragic if you got so tired you gave up - as so many do. Trust your followers - as long as you post we'll be here whether it's daily or twice a week.
I don't mean to sound bossy - can't help it sometimes.

Deep fried bacon with cheesy mashed potato bites once a year won't kill you. I skipped our fair this year and now I am missing my annual funnel cake and gyro sandwich. Enjoy!

Deep fried bacon. I never met bacon I didn't like and that sounds intriguing. :)

Judy,

To tell the truth, I don't think half of us do as much as you do.

Don't be too hard on yourself. We all love your site. The pictures, the weddings and flowers and soon you will be decorating some beautiful homes for the holidays.I really look forward to that.

Rest up, enjoy yourself and we will be here enjoying your blog whenever you feel like being here ..

As LL Cool Joe said...this was quite a post for someone taking a Blog Respite...lol....
I understand not having the same kind of energy as you did five years ago....And unfortunately it doesn't get better....I see that I don't have the same anything I had five years ago. I tell you, "aging" really sucks! I am amazed at the amount of energy you DO have Judy....! Then, I think back to when I was your age and I STILL had a great deal of energy....We stay 'young at heart' but our bodies betray us...!
