A Lesson Learned

The first photo is a lesson in why you should never, never, never wear your orange leather sandals to the beach. I meant to put on my fake crocs before we went out on the sand, but I forgot them in the hurry of gathering up everything else we needed. After wading in the surf, I put my sandals back on and later, at the pool, we noticed my orange-colored feet. It took several showers and much scrubbing to remove the dye.

We went to the
NC Aquarium At Fort Fisher and saw some interesting things. At the entrance is this pool with some fish sculptures. At first glance, they appear to be on stilts, but the "grasses" are holding the fish up as if they are swimming among them. While we were there, a gull kept drinking from the pool and when we were sitting by the hotel pool, a crow kept standing on the top step into the pool and drinking the water. I guess the chlorine doesn't bother them enough to keep them away.

This scary guy is only a statue (he may be stuffed?), but in the next batch of photos, you can see the real thing, up close and personal.

We had the most gorgeous weather today; low to mid 80's and no humidity with a light breeze. Perfect! Too bad it can't stay that way all year long. Problem is, we are nearly 8" low on our rainfall this year. If you get rain, send it up/over/down here!

I thought it was blood. And I was wondering how orange sandals can make someone bleed. Hahaha. Anyway, noted. Not like I ever looked good in orange anyway. :-)

I hate when the colour runs from the inside of shoe leather. I have memories of navy soles lasting many weeks. :(

Shoes and sandals can do funny things to wet feet!! I had some black shoes once........

What a fun time you had!
The weather here is magnificent as well... in fact, I hope to get my mom out to the botanical gardens this week. She would like to see the butterfly house before it closes and even though we will have to take the tram out there, I would like to get her to walk a little more and if it is nice and not humid she would do it. Today is her birthday... she is 82.

I always enjoy visiting that aquarium. Your feet made me laugh although I know how irritating that can be having done it myself.

I just love the fish sculpture.

Looks like an interesting trip. I am afraid my feet have become dry and scaly with all the gardening this summer. A little orange dye might be enhancing.

I got black feet the other day after my evening walk along a black sand beach...

Funny your post mentioned "fake crocs" and then you showed a picture of a "fake croc"! ;o)
