Scene/Seen at Our Museum

to my old friend Nancy - the museum has much to offer.

Nancy and I met at NCMA as volunteers over 25 years ago and we have remained fast friends. We were celebrating her birthday at Iris that day in May.

On Sunday afternoon, Soap Net was showing some VERY old General Hospital episodes, concerning Brenda Barret and Sonny Corinthos. I have been watching that soap off and on for 28 years, and I have forgotten most of these and some of the people!
But it is nice to see all the characters who are still on the show - and how they have aged over the years. Aside from their faces being thinner back then and their hair-dos different, they haven't changed much. So, why have I??

You are fortunate the have that museum in striking distance.

You are so right about the GH people not appearing to age but then we don't have a make up crew to cover the ravages of age like they do.
I went to the ABC soap fest in Orlando a while back and the makeup on the stars was a very thick, pancake type. Pretty sure it was applied with a spatula.

Probably because we don't have personal trainers and hair and makeup artists fixing us up before we step out of the house... ;)

Soap stars have this little thing called 'plastic surgery,' which they use to keep from aging. You don't need any of that, because you're gorgeous.

I kind of like the wall sitter sculptures. Certainly they're unusual!

Great shots from the museum. It's funny to me because I remember when the old museum (original one on the site which now has the beautiful new additional museum) was the new museum. When I was a child I used to go to the NC art museum when it was still in the downtown Raleigh location. It makes me feel old to realize that the new museum has become the old museum now that there is another new one. If you can follow what I'm saying you are doing great, ha.

I love that first lit-from-within image, Kenju. The use of light in the new museum is the most striking thing to me.

My grandmother, at 90, called G'ma and said she needed to move to a nursing home: "The only people who I see all day and who talk to me are on General Hospital... and lately I've been talking back to them."

Thanks for the memory, Kenju ;)
