This is the card I gave mr. kenju on Father's Day.....
and here is the one our older daughter gave him. I guess we have him pegged, right?
Truth be told, it describes both of us nowadays. Our matching recliners flank a table and both are facing the TV, about 14 feet away. There is no question in anyone's mind what that room is used for......LOL
I'd love to rearrange the the room, but one end has a built-in bookcase/TV/DVD player cabinet We had it built in right after we moved in to this house, 28 years ago, and I'd give anything if we hadn't done that. This room also has 2 windows, a set of French doors, a bar with cabinets above and below, a fireplace, 4 door openings/arches and precious little wall space! I can't remember the dimensions, but it isn't a very large room. I'd love to rip out the bookcases and bar and start over, but it is too late in our lives to be starting something like that and I cannot bear the thought of having everything torn up for even a short time - even if we could afford it.
There is an easier way to cure at least part of the problem, and that is with a new flat-screen TV hung on the brick wall above the fireplace mantel. I can't afford that either - but I can dream - can't I? Do you think maybe OPRAH will send NATE BERKUS over here to do a make-over for us? Wouldn't that be wonderful???

Oh I do love that card "resting my eyes!" that is exactly what I say! And I'm in a recliner too!
Its sounds as if your room is like the one we had before we moved here - absolutely no wall space!
We are better off now, although we had a semi-built in bit for a Video (as it was then!) player, and now we have a Sky box as well as the DVD player, so its a bit crowded, as we also have a new flat screen TV!!! (The old one was VERY old!)
Versatility, that's what we need. Can't always get it though!
My dad is exactly the same way. I really don't think you are too old to get your space exactly as you want it. After all... we uprooted my folks to a completely new space at the age of 79. Now they have their recliners right where you have yours... flanking a table and facing the flat screen TV on the wall. They can watch the birds out the window and see the preserve goings on... I think they like it.
Imagine opening your door and seeing Nate Berkus ! Yes, we can dream.
Maybe her alert staff will catch your links---who knows. Catch her quick though before she retires.
That's really funny that your daughter and you picked out cards that were so similar ... did Mr. Kenju think it was funny????
I "rested my eyes" in Ron's hospital room and he said several nurses stopped in to check on me. (It is rumored that I snore quite loudly.)
It is difficult having rooms that cannot be rearranged. Both our living room and our den can only be the way they are and I hate that.
I gave my dad the same card your daughter got! I thought it was perfect, even though my dad doesn't have a recliner; he just "rests his eyes" in an easy chair or on the couch.
I don't know Nate Berkus, but imagine if you walked in and the room was not to your taste.... would you be able to live with it.
I remember seeing one of those makeover programmes years ago and the couple absolutely hated the finished job.
I love the one sock off on the chair, I do that too. I don't rest my eyes in front of the tv though, just when I'm on the computer! :D
The cards are so funny and if they had a female version I know I would get one from one of my kids. TV is the best sleeping tablet I know of and watching it puts me right to sleep. Oh yes, I am in a recliner, too.
A real Dagwood with Blondie at his side!
I need Nate. And a maid.
I like to think of you reclining and resting your eyes then I don't feel so guilty at your normal work load.
You forgot to say you'd be wearing the garments - the name of which I can't remember but which I mean to get for MTL and me:)
