Odds and Ends

The first gardenia of the season. It looks as if my stone pup has a new hat, and the frog is making fun of it.

Storm was very curious about the small frog I took out of the skimmer this morning.

The early morning sun through the trees.

Now that's purple!!

Lantana - one thing the deer won't eat!

We had a tree cut down in this spot last year, and the bamboo grass (a weed) has taken over. I love its lush verdancy!

A bumper sticker I saw today: "We can't cure the world of sorrows, but we can choose to live in joy."

Our bamboo grass is turning into the back lawn. It is lovely though. So you can grow Lantana as a perennial?

If those are petunias, they look blue to me! But then my camera can't cope with blues and purples! So who am I to speak? ;)

Love the stone pup!

Great photos, I would love to explore your garden.

I like the bumper sticker and may use it in the future!

Ooh, I love that bamboo grass. Wish I had more trees so it would grow.
Lantana is a poisonous plant for horses so I guess the deer learned the hard way.
I was always surprised to see it sold in stores when we horse people worked like crazy to eliminate it from the pastures. One man's trash....

The major thorn in my side is the wild tall bamboo that inhabits the preserve. The rhizomes spread everywhere and I have cut back and cut back and dug and hacked and still they come up.

My gardenia's burst forth this week too. Both the ones we brought from the old house (the neighbor gave us small starter bushes) and the Chuck Hayes Nyssa got for Stephen for Christmas. They smell so good. And it must be strong fragrance for me to smell them at all.

It looks like a beautiful, park-like setting you have there.

our yard and your planys all look so lush and green...LOVE that Purple, Judy....
Poor little Frog....You seem to have a lot of Frogs there in your yard. I haven't seen a Frog here, ever....! Maybe because we are basically a Desert....We do have Lantana here, in abundance.
