Mr. kenju (on left) with some of his cousins and an aunt, in 1948.

Mr. Kenju's aunt and mother (on right), in 1927.

Another photo in mr. kenju's family collection, taken somewhere in NYC in the 40's or 50's.

Nothing like being invited over to view the laundry! At least it's clean......lol

I love the old photos that you find to put up on your blog. There are some real treasures there.

They probably forgot the washing was there - they all had their backs to it!!

I do love old photos!

Priorities. It's all about priorities. The laundry comes first. LOL

I don't understand what happens to the photos and copy after I hit publish. Before, the post looks perfect.

BLOGGER? Why does that happen?

Hay, he was really cute. I'd have pestered him to death at that age.

How funny about the laundry. Today with digital, it would have been noticed and everyone moved---or maybe not.

The clothes line was the tumble dryer of the day back then. I remember running in and out through the bedsheets as they billowed on the clothes line. I also remember my fingers sticking to the frozen clothes as I hung them on the line with a hope of a thaw and a breeze to dry them.

Oh, the memories. I love old photos.

I could only see some of the pictures, but my goodness, those women are beautiful...! Like movie stars.

I love looking at old pictures. Have boxes that my mother passed on to me. Notice - how dressed up and elegant the women always appeared in these pictures.
Now it seems dress is really casual.

Lovely photos and two tall elegant ladies. No wonder he chose to marry another tall elegant lady.

At least the laundry doesn't have any "unmentionables" on it !!

laundry is a fact of life. I enjoy these photos!!

Oh, and I'd be happy to show you how to read code in your posts to get the pictures aligned correctly. Blogger isn't really WYSIWYG.

I really enjoy old photos and how stiff everyone usually looks. I also loved the last poem....I should have slapped the crap out of a few men in my life.....would have made me feel really good.

Blogger makes me insane! Everything is perfect, alignment is pristine, I post and Postergeists get hold of it. (Oooh, that was terrible!) AND you can edit until your brains fall out; it just keeps going back to whatever squirrelly thing it decided to do in the first place.

The pics are great, though!

Well, you have to have clean clothes...... and since there were no dryers, what could they do? ;)

Oh, I think the artist you were trying to think of is Georgia O'Keefe. I love her paintings as well!

I love these old photos Judy. Mr. Kenju looks pretty cute in that first photo....what little of his face I can see.

Maybe 'airing out the laundry' so to speak, was a good thing for people to see back then. ~Joy
