In Southern Pines, NC last weekend, we read the local newspaper, The Pilot, and found two things that may be of interest.

I am hoping that you will be able to click and enlarge the articles about "The Fonz" and the new Andy Griffith/Mayberry Museum in Mt. Airy, NC.

SORRY, I see that neither of them enlarge without going all blurry. I have the articles, if anyone is interested in the details.

Both interesting articles.

Dyslexia must be a terribly frustrating problem. Thank heaven it is better understood today than years ago, and help is offered.

As the years pass by

You will have a place to go
and see what you miss
that used to be.

And in reply...

I have heard the phrase, "That's some larpin' good truck." I think it means that the food is larpin or lapping good like a dog laps water or food. And the truck is the truck patch where all the vegetables are planted and growing. My family had a "truck patch" of about 5 acres. Lots of stuff was grown there and most was sold door to door by my dad who had a weekly produce route in this city.

I haven't been to Southern Pines in ages. They look like interesting articles. I'll google them to read.

I loved the article about Henry Winkler. My own daughter has worked hard to overcome her learning disability and children need role models like Mr. Winkler. Thanks for sharing!

I Met Henry after the first run of the show. He took the part to seriously and was a big jerk. As with all of us, age mellows everyone. Good to know he's being productive.

I always loved the fact that Mayberry was done from a real town. Maybe thats why it was such a long running show. I still watch it on TVland. They don't make good shows like that anymore :)

What is cooler than the Fonz? Nothing.
Loved Andy Griffith and life in Mayberry.
I could read the articles just fine. Just had to click on them again when they went blurry.

I was able to read them, with my glasses on, and it's good to see the Fonz is as cool as ever.

We were just talking about Mt. Airy and it being the model for Mayberry. We just met a woman from there. The print wasn't big enough for me to read, probably because it's my birthday and I just turned 60!! Thank you for your good wishes. How did you know? Facebook? I just now posted a birthday teaser.

The Pilot is a good paper! Sam Ragan, who was an excellent poet, was its editor for many years.
