A guy who lives in the mountains above Golden, Colorado took these pictures recently.
Sunday evening, 5PM, I was in the kitchen cleaning a crock pot. Turning to grab a towel, I noticed movement under a bird feeder in the backyard. What? Could it be? My first sighting of a mountain lion outside of a zoo/animal park? Wait.....there is another one.....and another one......and another one. A mom with three yearling cubs. They came right up on my porch. The mom and one cub almost immediately crossed in front of the sunroom and went under the deck (one level down). The remaining two cubs stayed on the porch for 5-10 minutes. I sat on the other side of the sliding glass door, shooting pictures of them. What an unbelievable experience! |

How wonderful! They look fierce - are they?
I heard on the news about a guy who found mountain lions living in his attic.
What amazing shots and experience. That one poor baby sure looked hungry. I'd probably would have tried to feed it. I tend to interfer with nature.
Knowing me, I'd throw food out and try to make them friendly. They're sooo cute!
That is just awesome.
Thank you.
Wow! Great photos!
It's a privilege to have at their porch such a beautiful wild animals.
Not sure I'd trust a sliding glass door, but that doesn't change how awesome these pics are.
What a fabulous experience--beautiful animals.
I'd be screaming! Why are they so unafraid?
WOW! This is actually a little scary to me! ~ jb///
I want to have that exact experience, only not in colorado, but here on my new back porch! I've always wanted to see mountain lions from a very safe distance like that. Such beautiful animals.
Amazing!! I would have been too nervous to take pictures, lol!
They are cute but nicer if not on you back porch... might be hard to let Fido out, wouldn't it?
Not sure I would like them on my patio!
The lions look sweet but I bet they are not.
Fantastic. I saw an adorable little field mouse on my bird feeder today. Does that count?
Wow!!!!!
He got some nice shots. Yes, here in Colo. the animals can come up to the house. Most of the time, they are hungry and looking for food. These guys look like they are used to people which means people have moved into their domain and they have gotten used to it. They don't look underweight, I couldn't tell by the photos, which means they are finding food.
They are beautiful!
Okay do these people know that Mountain Lions have been known to kill hikers and bikers? They are as dangerous to invite on your porch as a bear would be.
Recently a woman and her children were safely in their house when the dog came running in through the doggie door and a cougar was right behind the dog. The woman got the kids in a room, locked the door and they all climbed out the window. Guess the place was pretty much a disaster area by the time animal control arrived to capture the mountain lion.
