The North Carolina Governor's Mansion is a wonderful place to work even if you only get to do it four or five days a year. Today, we (Mel Day's crew) started the 2009 Christmas Decorations; feeling very fortunate to have been chosen to decorate the Mansion for our new Governor, Beverly Perdue.

Photos will follow in a few days, but not until a majority of the work has been completed.

Today, we worked in the library; the Governor's theme for that room is "green/environmentally sound". To that end, all materials used are completely natural: various evergreen boughs, branches, mosses, seashells, birds nests, raffia, holly, corkscrew willow, eleagnes, narcissus plants, amaryllis plants and magnolia. The seashells are there as a nod to the city from which our Governor hails - New Bern. NC. and its proximity to the Atlantic coast.

Seven arrangements were completed (by me) today; five large ones and two small ones, and in addition, I made 30 red velvet bows for use on the exterior window wreaths and garlanding on the wrought iron railings and gates that surround the Mansion grounds.

Come back tomorrow; I may be able to take some photos.

This sounds more like fun than work, Judy, although I know it is probably very taxing work. I can't wait to see the photos.

Yeah, with the year Bev's been having, she needs a little brightening up. And if ya need photos, we can work it out. Bev being my boss and all, she'll be cool with it. I think. Or not.

Anyway.

There's a Blog Party at Casa Mojo goin' on today in honor of a mutual friend of ours. (Actually there are two, but you might not know the guest of honor at the second one. You're welcome to crash though, Sandy won't mind. She's good like that.)

Well that makes it just that much more interesting, Judy, doesn't it? I mean having a new Governer and attempting to suit her particular interests, etc. The outside of the Mansiun looks lovely!
I look forward to the pictures, my dear...!

BTW: They had Betty up yesterday---three times, so hopefully, she will avoid and side issues like a possible Pneumonia...! I will pass on your good thoughts to her....!
