Wedding Flowers 8-9-09

My wedding today was at Crenshaw Hall, another lovely spot for a wedding, in Wake Forest, NC. The bride made a decision months ago to have the ceremony indoors, since our weather in August is often unbearable. Her decision was the best ever, since our temperatures today hovered at 97*. My flowers and I were very happy not to spend a lot of time outdoors.

This was one of a pair of ceremony arrangements, which were to be moved to a mantel in the reception area after the ceremony. The pedestal vases held river rock, corkscrew willow and a green cymbidium orchid, while the arrangement on top consisted of bells of Ireland, snapdragons, bouvardia, roses, hypericum, lilies, hydrangeas, dendrobium orchids, ivy, rosemary and pittisporum.

This beautiful bride's dress was straight out of the 1930's; an art deco style with a peek-a-boo back. I loved the simplicity of it, and the way it conjured up visions of movie stars in old black and white films. She chose to carry a cascade also; like the bride I had last week. They are on their way back into fashion.

The bridesmaids wore black dresses. Here one of them holds her own bouquet and also that of the bride.

DARN it! I had another photo to show you, but I accidentally deleted it and I'm not gonna' go back and redo this entire post. I'll show you some other time - a luscious tray of fresh fruits. I wanted to dive right in!

Another beautiful presentation! Such vibrant colorc ombinations and I just love the cylinder vases. The river rock and orchid down low with the curly willow adds weight for function, balance for color--the green orchid draws the eye all through the arrangement to the tips of the Bells of Ireland. Such a unique mix of design styles all in one, but it works! Bravo!!!! I'm sure the bride and everyone was very pleased.

That lovely arrangement in cylinder vase is just so beautiful - and with flowers I have enver heard of! I guess the bright blue bell-shaped ones are bells ofIreland, though I've never seen them, but what is that long one with green blobs on? Yours look beautiful, but I am sure if I tried to use them in an arrangement they'd just look like green blobs!!

Are weddings in places other than churches civil weddings, or do church ministers/vicars/whatever officiate? Weddings in the UK can take place other than churches in venues that have been registered, and a lot of beautiful hotels and Country Houses are registering, but they are, I believe, 100% civil ceremonies. Though some brides choose to get married in churches because they are so beautiful, even though they are not church-goers.

I really liked the old-fashioned style of the bride. Before I read the text, I thought it was a photo from a while ago.

Lovely flowers. With them you open doors to many beautiful places for us. I love my visits.

I think outdoors in blistering heat is over rated and almost always now choose to eat indoors.
I love her dress. I don't like the pervasive habit of bare shoulders for brides and it seems to be universal.
The simple dresses show off the bouquets beautifully.

You very seldom see bridesmaids in black...but it's very elegant.
Of course your floral arrangements are beyond beautiful. Great job.

Do you ever watch the TV show called "Say Yes To The Dress".
It is about a famous New York shop that specializes in very high end bridal dresses. Minimum price about$5,000.Most sell higher than that.
And, almost all are strapless and backless and look nice on the brides provided they weigh no more that 100 pounds. Others wear them at their own risk...

Anyway, when I saw your bride today I thought she looked stunning! Simply elegant. Those brides with the $5,000 + dresses that I see on that show cannot hold a candle to this lovely bride.

It just goes to show that money cannot buy class...

Ohh. I came over after reading your comment at our wedding, to see yours. The mix of colors is so beautiful in these bouquets. I do love the simple vintage dress too. Just watched "Notorious" last night and was so in the mood for that era.

I love corkscrew willow - how cool to add it to a bouquet.

Loved the flowers, especially the chartreuse with bright colors. The black dresses really made the flowers pop. Not something I would have thought of, but that bridesmaid looks really chic. The bride looks pensive in that last candid shot, sweet.

You don't have a link to the wedding photographer, do you? I'd love to see the whole thing. There's a photographer east of here who puts ups peeks at all his weddings.
