Scenes from the Weddings ~ May 9, 2009

Mel's simple centerpiece of three floating miniature gerbera daisies with green and blue glass gems and a candle in the footed bowl. I didn't notice that the ceiling lights were reflected in the table mirror until I saw this photo. Note the golden circle with faint scroll work.

A large glass vase arrangement on the altar of an Apex church.

Mel's bridal bouquet; coral and pink peonies, blue hydrangeas, pink and cream roses and green hypericum.

Mel's bridesmaid's bouquets of green hydrangea, deep pink roses, and two shades of hypericum with eucalyptus.

A detail from one of the large arrangements (hybrid lily and tulips).

This arrangement that Mel made is quite a bit larger than it appears here. The cachepot is an oval, at least 18" long and 10" wide, and the flowers cover an area about 3 feet wide.

A mantel arrangement at Crenshaw Hall, which I made.

I also made this spray for the newel post.

A detail of the newel post spray - those luscious peonies again!

The ceremony area at Crenshaw Hall, showing two of the four huge arrangements that Mel made for the wedding.

One of the large arrangements.

For a small reception at Evoo Restaurant: a manzanita branch, draped with dendrobium orchids, clear crystal beading and votive lights hanging from the branches.

A hydrangea wreath I made to hang over the bar at Evoo.

Great work as usual. Are you ready to put your feet up yet?

Beautiful! Peonies make for spectacular displays, never seen them used before. Don't the petals drop, or not until the ceremony is over??

You and Mel are just so talented!

Kay and Gilly: the whole time I've been in the flower business, I've seen peonies used when they are in season. They are a bit pricey, so they are not common, but often used in wedding work. They smell divine, as I'm sure you know. I have some in my kitchen now, and the aroma permeates the whole house!

I'm sure the end results takes the pain right out of those aching feet. Just beautiful work.
Think I might be able to pull of the daisies floating over the mirror. Great shot.

Simply gorgeous arrangements. I was especially taken with the Bridesmaids bouquets and your spray over the Newel post.

The Manzanita branch was very creative and reminds me of a Christmas tree my late husband and I made from the branches of a dead cactus. My husband spray painted it gold and I used blue birds and blue balls for the ornaments.

Those are just wonderful. At breakfast yesterday morning, Sarah and I were talking about the photos of arrangements that you post. They certainly are not run of the mill arrangements; they're gorgeous.

Patti: since I got over plantar fascitis, my feet seldom hurt. It is my back that suffers when I stand for long hours - but I wear Therm*-care heat wraps and they really do help.

These arrangements are so lovely. I know I've said it before but it bears repeating... you and your crew have such wonderful and unique ideas for flower usage in the arrangements. The day when orchids, roses, carnations and such were the main flowers available for bridal bouquets is over. I love the peonies! Of course here the roses are blooming at the botanical garden and I plan to go out and get some pictures... weddings there need only the bridal bouquet...the natural flowers are so beautiful.

I had five large white gardenias and small baby apricot and yellow roses in my bouquet... sort of boring by today's standards..
