Odds and Ends (with Maxine)

Click to embiggen, I hope. Sometimes that doesn't work - I have no idea why. I love that cartoon on the bottom right!

I've really enjoyed having my hearing aids, but sometimes I "forget" to put them on. Mr. kenju hates that! I was having lunch with Beverly today, and luckily, I remembered to wear them. She was driving through NC on her way to VA to see her gorgeous granddaughter, and she stopped to spend a few hours with me. Wasn't that nice?! Stay safe on your trip, Beverly.

Do you keep poinsettias? I got this one from my employer on January 3rd, and this photo was taken March 3rd. It has lost many leaves, but new ones are still being produced. I'm hoping to keep it alive for another month or two, so I can put it out on the deck. Poinsettias thrive in sunshine and if you are successful at keeping them alive, they make great outdoor plants for the summer. If this one prospers, I'll show a photo of it mid-summer.

Thanks to all of you who left such nice comments yesterday. I was casting about for something to post and found some of my old artwork - and I wasn't fishing for compliments at all. But Ill admit to being like my grandmother, who always said " I'm like the little Irish girl....I love to hear it even though I know it isn't true." (She never told me who this "little Irish girl" was.....LOL)

Lastly, my blog friend Ronni is having a birthday today, and I'd be pleased if you go wish her a happy one!

Loved the hearing aid cartoon!! LOL!

We went to Madeira once, a really beautiful Portugese island off the west coast of Africa, and we were amazed to see poinsettias growing all over the place, every garden had two or three, and many had sort of "gone wild". Also HUGE madonna lilies, wild and in gardens. It was amazing!

Thanks for the birthday wishes, kenju. Re poinsettias: I've kept them going sometimes for a year or two. Mine have gotten kinda straggly in the spring, then they perk up and are green for a several months and turn red again in the winter.

They need a lot of water, I discovered.

I have sooo busy and not really blogging except for pre-planned posts and so am missing reading my favs. My pointsettias always look starved by this time.

I too cracked up at the"hearing aid" Maxine. Not there yet but am sure it is in my future.
In Florida, I alway put my poinsettias in the ground and they did well. Haven't tried it this far North. Good luck

I wish I was more of a flower/plant person, but I have no talent. Poinsettias are one of my favorites, but I have never managed to get one to survive much longer than the end of January. I hope yours makes it to your deck in the summer.

I always love your Maxine posts...not as much as your floral ones, or your everyday happenings ones...but they make me laugh. How is the wall coming????

Loved that hearing aid line.

I'll be sure never to buy one!

I thought it was going to be some flower child comment, judging by her flower power van, but that wouldn't fit Maxine's personality.

No poinsettias. No avacado plants anymore either.

I gave a friend a poinsettia at Christmas one year. She put it on the fireplace hearth and it was still alive July 4. Spooky.

Love that Maxine.

Help! Has Google gone mad? I can't sign into my account with it. They say I don't exist or something. Any other Blogspoters having this trouble?

And Kenju, love Maxine too.

That was a great game, wasn't it (I had to go to OH to watch it--get out of MI! I did watch it there, but not for that reason). Love the comic strips.

Boohoo! The Tarheels were just way too much for my poor Spartans. Very impressive. Congrats!

I love the hearing aid cartoon. Leave it to Maxine.

I did indeed arrive right on time here in Waynesboro to my delight. Ella was so excited. We'r having a great time together. I just wish it were a little warmer.

Not too many flowers are out here.

I am becoming more and more like Maxine every day... this is scary! Right now, I just finished my marathon cleaning of the garage and my knees and feet and back are done for. Three more days before my brother gets here. Ouch... more work tomorrow.
