I Promised You.....

photos of the flowers I delivered today. They were ordered by my doctor's wife for the Passover dinner she was having tonight. I did both of their daughter's wedding flowers, and she has been good to send me many, many referrals over the years. She was surprised (but pleased) when I told her she didn't owe anything for these three arrangements.

I used white hydrangea, purple stock and montecasino, orange roses and alstroemeria, yellow tulips and hot pink gerbera daisies, in 5" square vases. I was hoping to find either blue or green hydrangea when I went to the wholesale florist, but all they had was white.

^^^^^^^

Our neighborhood women's luncheon yesterday was fun and the nine of us stayed in our seats for over 2 hours. After I mentioned the plans for the luncheon yesterday, one of my blog readers sent a link to a poem he wrote a few years ago, titled "Ladies Who Lunch." It was very apropos for today and I copied it to take along and let everyone read it. It was a big hit, Jay! One of the women borrowed it for a luncheon she is attending next week. An interesting side note is that while we were there, two other friends came into the restaurant: one was a former neighborhood resident and the other is a current resident, who was there for a business group meeting. It seemed like "old home week".

I had the escargot and a salad, but NO dessert! Are you as proud of me as I am? Actually, I wish I had not ordered the snails; they were tasty (how can you ruin garlic butter?), but tough as shoe leather. My companions had crepes, quiche, Croque Monsieur sandwiches and soups. Any of them would have been preferable to the snails. Too bad I didn't know that in advance of ordering. Oh, well, there's always next time.

I am glad you could use it. I call my poetry trite but I do have fun writing it. j

I stopped eating snails after one dish tasted like rubber in garlic butter.
How sweet of you to donate the flowers.

Beautiful flowers! What a wonderful gift you have!

I think I would have passed on the snails! Sound too slithery for me!

Lovely flowers! So generous of you to reward her loyalty. Not a snail fan myself.

I guess you don't need to paint when you can create such beautiful art in your floral arrangements. You were extra sweet to give those to her in appreciation. Not many do such things any more.

I love the Ladie Who Lunch poem but have to question the "no gossip"? That will be the day! LOL

Yesterday was a garlic day for us also. We had grilled shrimp at Chili's and it was like biting into big cloves of garlic instead of shrimp!

Loved the poem, May borrow it for my groups.

Aren't you sweet to do those flowers for free.

Sorry your snails bounced. Usually I could eat cardboard if you put that sauce on it. Love garlic.

How nice of you to remember someone who helped you early on. That's rare in this day and age but I hope that's changing.
The flower arrangements are lovely.

These arrangements are just so beautiful Judy....the colors are stunning. You do such lovely work. And that was such a thoughtful gesture on your part Judy.

As much as I love seafood...I could never seem to enjoy oysters or snails. I just never got into them because of the texture.

Have a great weekend coming up sweetie...Happy Easter.... ~Joy

I have never eaten snails - I just can't get my mind around them, but I love shrimp. Shrimp Scampi is to die for; even when the shrimp is overcooked and rubbery. Obviously, it's the garlic butter I love.

Your arrangements are so beautiful, Judy. I'm sure they brightened up the Seder dinner tables.

Beautiful flowers! They're in colors I use in the front yard island beds: purple, palest yellow and cream, shades of orange and chartreuse. I have pink Gerberas blooming in the Upper Garden.

Sorry the escargot were not up to par. I found a tiny snail when I was transplanting some Sweet William this afternoon. He looked tender enough. Maybe they were aged snails.

The flowers are gorgeous as always! I tried to go to the Purple Cow here last Sunday... you know how I love she crab soup... and woe is me... they were closed until further notice. I guess the economy has hit them as well. I so had my mouth ready for that soup!

I've been skipping desserts lately too and trying to cut down calories. Hooray to us both for our will power!!!!!

:-)

Your floral arrangements are beautiful and very springy. I'm sure she was thrilled that she was not charged for them. What a great gift! She sounds like a wonderful customer.

Beautiful arrangements as usual. I ate snails as a kid...my godfather would make them with garlic too...I absolutely would not touch one now...frog legs either. I have a very picky palate now.
