Working for the new flower shop proved fun and interesting. There is a new group of people to get to know, with stories told and experiences in the flower business compared with one another. The camaraderie in a flower shop is almost always nice, if you can ignore the petty jealousies that arise with some people. This group of women seems happy with each other and with the job- so I should enjoy being there. The only time I am used to working 8-10 days in a row is during the holidays. I'm not sure how my body will adapt to it now, especially since the yellow menace (pollen) has not abated one bit. I'm still swallowing sinus pills and decongestants like they are going out of style.

The focus of my work for them is prom corsages; all wristlets - which I really hate making - but there is no sense in complaining about it. It's wristlets or nothing for proms. Their method is different than the one I am used to, but theirs is also quicker and less tedious. The downside is that I get glue all over my hands and it is an awful mess. I'm fairly certain that no photos will be taken, of the corsages, since if you've seen one - you've seen them all. I will, however, be working for Mel Day again tomorrow, Friday and Saturday, so perhaps I'll get some good photos of the wedding flowers for you.

Holy busy woman! I too will see those corsages and think of you.

LOVE the food art - people have so much time on their hands!

You have more get up and go than women half your age. Hope the cameraderie of the girls make up for the less interesting work.

The Pasta shoe is impressive. Actually, all the food art were very impressive.

Glad you have good folks to work with. That can determine whether it is a good job or bad job.
Re: yellow pollen. I developed allergies a few years ago(guess you are never too old to learn new stuff) and after tearing my stomach up with OTC drugs, I found Quercetin with Bromelain at a health food store. Works wonderfully with no side effects.
Don't work too hard.

I have found that any work that requires an artistic bent will have petty jealousies. It's one reason the Evil Twin gets frustrated at his job sometimes. Every graphic designer thinks they're better than the next graphic designer. He's actually the only one I know who will compliment another designer on their work. It must be a creativity thing.

What exactly is the story behind wrist corsages? It seems I was one of few at my prom in 1964 wearing a wrist corsage and everyone was raving about it. Were they new around that time or just taking on new popularity or what?

I wondered the same thing as Granny Annie, what's the story behind wrist corsages?

I'm working this week and next, too. After five years of retirement from the university, it's a bit tricky putting that hat back on.

Your work will make many girls very happy!

The pollen can make life difficult at times.

When finished the flowers accentuate the dresses. Hoping to see pictures from work, of the flowers.

wristlets....when did they come into popularity? I remember only having corsages on the dress....aging myself obviously.....because there is much less dress these days.

I wish wrist corsages had been in vogue when I was young. Many a dress would have avoided ugly pinholes and many a beau would have escaped the embarrassment of fastening a corsage so close to forbidden fruit; especially in front of a glaring father.

That Food Art Site is FABULOUS, Judy...So much fun, and so incredibly clever! You find the most interesting sites, my dear!

Glad the new job is working out for the moment, though I can see how it might become a bore to do the same thing over and over...AND, glue on the fingers, too! (lol)

Love the food art! Can't believe you still have time to blog when you're so busy.

Sorry you are suffering with allergies. I had bad allergies all my life, and about ten years ago, they simply stopped. I mean completely stopped. I had two rounds of allergy shots each about five years long, and maybe that's what finally did it. Whatever it was, I am thrilled to be free of them.

The food art is creative! That huge ant looks scary!!
I've never seen a carrot that long in my life! That's a rabbit's dream.
