Post # 850~ Odds and Ends (some odder than others)

This came in an email today. The photographer got there at the right time, didn't he? I've never seen my cats do that, or I'd be all over them with the camera.

This is why I seldom eat there!

Awarded from Arkansas Patti, whom I admire greatly for her amusing stories, told with well-written wit and obvious smarts!! You owe it to yourself to go there and poke around a bit. Thanks, Patti. I will have to study whom to pass it to next.

Don't pass this one by - study it a while - LOL

Have you ever had a severe bottom of the right foot itch while driving down the road in heavy traffic; praying for a red light so you can scratch, but not getting even one? That's my life these days.

We found out tonight that our favorite cafeteria is closing. Only 3 miles from our house, that place has fed us almost once per week for about fifteen years; maybe more. The food wasn't anything a gourmet would care for, but it was decent, filling and inexpensive. Best of all - I didn't have to cook it or clean up after it. When the children lived at home, it was a good place to go and fill up a hollow leg (my son's). The same owner has two more cafeterias in the city, but they are off our beaten paths and it is not worth driving 10-12 miles, one way. For some odd reason, the food we ate there tonight was more tasty than anything we've had there in the last 2 years. After that, I'll miss it even more.

At least you got 15 years. It seems like every time the Spouse Thingy and I find a really good place to eat, it goes out of business within a year. We have to stop saying something is our favorite, or we jinx it.

Stuff is closing down here right and left and the for rent and for lease signs in the store fronts is heartbreaking. To say nothing of the foreclosure signs, the real estate sale signs.

It took a minute, but I GOT the music score. Took about 5 seconds. Naughty!

On Facebook you mentioned you are either coming down with something or have a sinus infection. That's how I feel, too. Feel better soon.

Congrats on the award and sorry your restaurant is closing.

I don't know what I'd do if our 'hood's fave eatery closed. I've beeneating ir stopping for a brew there for over 40 years.

Ah - a musical Karma Sutra:)
Bad luck that something that makes life a little easier is closing down. I often tell MTL it's our duty to eat out and keep 'em going.
Congratulations on the award.
I lost all mine but one when I tried to instal it myself so have now given them up altogether:)

The screwing notes is often animated. They're very cute while trying to create new music.

I wonder if that fellow with the cat photo superglued the feline's nose to the faucet... maybe you're right and it was just good timing, Judy. I can be too suspicious.

Whew! It's working now! I am so sorry to hear the economy is affecting Raleigh. It always seemed like an area that never felt recessions.

Thanks for the more than kind words Judy. You have set the bar too high but it is good to have such an example as your blog to shoot for. It is like tennis, you play with someone better than you it only improves your game. Had that itchy foot thing, usually on an interstate with no exit in sight.

Judy - I've seen that music thing as an animated .gif, which takes it to a whole other level. :)

The itchy foot thing is a good reason to never wear tie-up shoes.

That photographer had excellent focus which is not easy when you only have seconds! It could be photo-shopped...but who would know.

We are buffered here somewhat by military bases and the federal government. We so not see the terrible recession that many are facing.

We're not going out much but when we do we're trying to go to places we've never been...just trying to give everyone a chance at survival.

Umm, the photos of my cats would have water in a toilet....love the music....we could use a cafeteria in my town...I loved them in California.

Too bad that cafeteria is closing. It's become a tradition, and now you'll have to find another one to take its place.

I've never seen a FAT giraffe before. McDonald's will do that for sure!!

That music piece is funny!

Yes, those are odds and ends, aren't they. I would hate to have my favorite eating place close down. Yes, the music is quite interesting. LOL

I caught one of mine doing this, but my camera skills were not this good.

As for the music.. at first thought... Dancing with the stars... but then... oh, my!

Congrats on your award Judy...well deserved!

Sorry about your restaurant going out of business. I hate that...and it's happened to me too. A couple of our local places that I loved to eat at closed down too. As a matter of fact...there are so many store fronts on our main drive that are vacant...it's scary. It's like a ghost town...whole sections of little mall areas empty...and have been for quite a while. I'm seeing more and more of it everywhere I go.
