Statistics!

More email goodies here.....my brain is mush again.

I can hardly believe that the U.S. isn't on the list. Tiny Luxembourg? I can't believe it.

Swiss chocolate is SOOOOOOO good! No wonder they consume a lot of it.

I know nothing about the Maldives; time for some research into why they have a high rate.

Wonder what it is about Andorra? Time for more research.

Obviously our billionaires are not reproducing or eating enough chocolate to keep up with the varsity.

And Andorra is a teeny tiny itsy-bitsy country between France and Spain in the Pyrenees. I'm told it's lovely.

Some of these statistics are very amazing....I am going to do some research too...lol!
I want to know what that longevity secret is, too!

BTW: Another "B" is up, Judy....Another l-o-n-g one....lol!

I'm delighted - and amazed - that we don't figure in the alcohol stakes nor in the divorce but maybe that is because marriage seems to be dying
out.
Is China really more populated than India? It was pretty crowded when we were there;)

Suicide rate seems to be related to latitude. All those countries have long, cold and dark winters.

Judy, thanks for more interesting facts! You sure come up with great stuff! I was surprised by many.

Kay is right when she says that " Andorra is a teeny tiny itsy-bitsy country between France and Spain in the Pyrenees."

So small that the nearest maternity hospital is abroad, so infant deaths are not in the statistics. Indeed ANY hospital is abroad, so no hospital deaths are included. There is only one main road through it (and a couple of back roads in the hills), so traffic accidents are minimal.
So the long life expectancy may just be a statistical anomoly because 'inhabitants' die abroad???

Very interesting data. I really like good old Hershey's chocolate better than Swiss.

I find the suicide data most interesting too.

Interesting....i think they might have missed my house when they were gathering stats for the chocolate thing....because I have eaten enough cherry cordials in three months to make Swiss chocolate seem second rate.

With as many boozers here in the US, I'm shocked we didn't rate either. Hmm.

Lakes Huron and Michigan are bigger than Superior?? hhmmmm.....

I wonder why the suicide rates are so high in those countries. Oppression? Depression? Poverty? Or like Utenzi said....long dark winters. Maybe its a combination. I'm also wondering how much involvement there is in faith.

Glad you posted that. I'm really curious about Maldives, too. I have a Japanese friend who worked there for a year. Maybe she will shed some light on it.

The statistic that really got to me was the one with the most Billionaires. I wonder what that statistic was before George Bush.

Hershey chocolate is good, but the Swiss and Belgian's take great pride in their chocolate and I think that's why they lead in consumption.

Interesting post!

I'm surprised we don't rank in alcohol consumption, saddened that we are at the bottom of the list for chocolate consumption, and I'm not at all surprised about our ranking in divorces (but I do wonder what is up in Maldives and Belarus), billionaires, or our lack of ranking in life expectancy.

So glsd you are enjoying the "B" posts, Judy....It was like you turned on a faucet....LOL!

I STILL cannot get over some of these statixtics. AMAZING the the United States has the MOST Billionaires....Of course! They all got rich from the Booming Stock Market...lol!

Avoid Maldives and Lithuania and move to Andorra.

I vow to do my part to raise the USA's percentage of chocolate consumption.

:-)

It's time to double my truffle eating!!!
