Interesting! Not too sure about the last one - inflection at the end of the words. South Africans seem to do that all the time, as do teenagers round here. Of course, they could all be lying......

I recently read that you should watch people's eyes. They will go right or left when they are speaking the truth, and the opposite when lying. So you watch which way his/her eyes go on a statement you know to be true, and then watch for the opposite way for lies. Don't know how true this is, I'm not often in the position of trying to decide if someone is lying or not!

But those hints about touching noses, eyes, necks atc are very handy! I shall bear them in mind!

It's simple. If it is something nice and flattering and it makes me feel good....they are not lying.

What Bud says.

I don't lie, not for moral reasons but because I am not good at it. You need a really good memory to lie. However, I often touch my nose,my eyes and I just now rubbed my neck. Maybe I am lying about not lying???

Very interesting.

But without seeing the author, how will I know if this article was telling the truth?

Judy,

I want you to know that this is the MOST interesting thing I have read in years!

I must close now. I can't type and rub my nose and touch my neck while my head is shaking back and forth like it is.

Just trust me, I am telling you the absolute truth.....

Fascinating! Now, go watch the First 48 or another cop show where they show the suspects being interrogated and see which clues you can pick up. Its a good way to practice.

Spoken from one with a criminal justice degree.

The link won't work for me. :-/

I did get to take some interrogation classes when I sued to give my speeches at Arson Investigator conferences. I learned a lot.

I can tell when someone who shall be nameless, is being economical with the truth - his eyes get larger and rounder till they nearly pop out of his head.

That was interesting and helpful!

It's interesting to me how we give ourselves away because lying is not natural.
