Leftovers

Ain't that the cutest little hot dog you've ever seen? It isn't my grand-doggie Lucy, but it sure looks like her!

I have always liked anything with a herringbone pattern, and this sidewalk, found along the perimeter of our NC Governor's Mansion, is no exception. This is one of the few small areas without upward eruptions and missing bricks, probably caused by tree roots and frost. I think they had better hurry up and repair the sidewalk (no matter what the economy) or they'll likely have a lawsuit on their hands!

This is the wall behind my computer desk. Isn't it yucky? If you have ever entertained the idea of installing cork squares on a wall in your home, I have one word for you:

DON'T!

Some of those "scuff" marks are where I filled thumbtack and nail holes and the rest are the residue of the double-sided tape used to hold the cork boards. They are impossible to remove, so I will have to sand them off. That will take forever, I fear. Unfortunately, I had originally put up 16 squares, and each one required 4 tabs of tape. When those began failing, I nailed them in. That was my second mistake, and now I am reaping the error of my ways.

More lichen, by which I am fascinated. I love its gray-green color and the "ruffles".

What a darling pup!!!!

Don't ya just hate having to clean up your mistakes? On the other hand, I'll come work on your walls if you'll come clean my apartment! LOL

I want to dip my toes into that header!

No hot dog for me thanks, but I do like the patterns made by lichen.

I occasionally tease people by talking about BBQs and cats but I'd never ever put a bun on a dog. That's just wrong!

That bill you mentioned was outrageous, Judy. That's nearly what I pay in an entire year. Wow!

I laughed out loud when I saw the doggy. Which mustard works best?

And I can see whet you man about the cork tiles idea. I think some projects are designed to create other projects. Here today via NetChicks- Hiya!

Such a cutie puppy.
As for the cork boards, thank you so much. Your pain is my gain. I have entertained those thoughts and now I can just dump them.

Judy, my neighbor has a miniature Dachsund that looks just like the little hot doggy in your picture. Her name is Dali and she is a riot when she shakes her toys and plays catch with herself.

We are paying for the wall mishaps from the former owners here. I feel your pain.

Back in the late 1960s/early 1970s, having young kids and a finished basement rec room that had only hard surfaces (except for the pool table top), I covered one wall with thick cork rectangles, interspersed with shag carpet squares. The wall was wonderful for the accoustics; but, I went through the frustration that you now feel when I prepared the house for sale in 2001/2002. At that time, I put Berber carpeting on the floor to absorb the sound. I feel for you!

I grew up in small towns that had old brick streets and sidewalks. I can feel the "ouch" just looking at your picture and remember the many time tripping and stubbing toes.

That puppy better be careful or someone is going to take a bite! Soooooooooo cute.

There is nothing sweeter than a Doxie puppy. of course this one gives a whole new meaning to the word "hot dog". Hope you are relaxing now after the Valentine Day rush.

That herringbone brick walkway looks so nice. It is dangerous though that parts of it are uneven. Lawsuit in the making indeed!

Live and learn. I've never used cork wall squares, and now I'll be sure to avoid them!

That little hot doggie is SO cute!!

We have herring bone tiles in the hall - covered by a carpet - for warmth really. It had 8 doors and takes a lot of heating.

And a belated Happy Valentine's Day to you too! I forgot it this year.. since it came on the heels of a Friday 13th and I was intent on keeping Mom out of the ER for first time in three Friday's. She went to therapy but we elected to stay house bound except for that. No need to have 80 year old drivers pressing their luck.

Funny word verification here today...... hernia(r).

What an interesting group of pictures, Judy!
And I dearly appreciate The Cork Wall WARNING! Who Knew?
You are so right about those walks---Up here there are lots of places where the sidewalks are truly a mess, from Tree Roots....And they ALL need to be addressed, but nobody does it! And I think we are each responsible for the "walks" in front of our houses, aren't we?
Well, I hope they fix all those around the Gov. Mansion.

That is a cute puppy pic!

Have you gone to a hardware store and asked about removing the tape? There has to be something they have to make it easier.
