Flowers at The National Gallery

Since photos of paintings aren't allowed, I decided to show you the fountains and their plantings. This will get you in the mood for spring! Above: white delphinium, pink tulips, white hydrangea, spray roses and lilies.

Stargazer lilies.

Amaryllis, white and blue hydrangeas.

Amaryllis.

Flowering pear trees, surrounded by azaleas, hydrangeas and gardenias.

A domed ceiling with an oculus, which reminds me of it's (almost) twin in the Pantheon in Rome. The only difference is that this one is closed and the one in Rome is completely open to the elements.

NOTE TO SUSAN from England: I tried to put your email here tonight, and it wouldn't post correctly. It seems to be in a different format, and whenever I tried to edit it, it just wouldn't allow editing and it made my computer "jam" up. I will work on it and try again. Sorry!

Lovely flowers! Are they all under that beautiful domed ceiling? Looks a lovely place just to be in, or maybe sit. Hope there are benches, etc. for the disabled who just want to admire their surroundings!

That is no a place I am ever likely to see, so thank you for your pictures!

Thanks so much for the tour. What a lovely place. Just warms a gardeners heart.
Must admit I fell in love with the Stargazer Lillies. Gotta have em.

Very lovely flowers!!
I have two amaryllis indoors, with only the green leaves left. I wonder if I should just go ahead and plant them outside now...

Those stargazer lilies are gorgeous - actually all the flowers are. I wish I had all those around my house.

Drat! Oculus isn't in my dictionary.
I'm thinking ocular - eye and octet eight. Eight pieces of glass?

It's lovely to see all the flowers and plants there, and it's something you don't or won't usually see unless you actually go there! Thanks for this, Judy....!

Do they say you cannot take pictures there... even without a flash? The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC was not that strict.

These are gorgeous flowers!

Who needs paintings when you've got this? Awesome spectacle!
