Let Them Eat Cake! (and some observations)

I call this one "Fireworks".

Rauf, my blog friend, sent an email full of wonderful cakes. I don't know if they were from a contest or just an exhibition, but I chose to show you the ones I liked best. ENJOY them, and do visit Rauf. He makes the most amazing photos of his native India.

The bride and groom are all packed for the honeymoon! The workmanship on this one is phenomenal. It may look simple, but that icing treatment is hard to do.

Perhaps this one is symbolic of the ups and downs on the road to marriage....LOL. It can be a bit like a roller-coaster!

An outdoor sports lover's dream.

A very 1960's design; it reminds me of Laugh-In.

Fit for a king - and a queen!

Baa baa white sheep. I don't get the gist of this one, but it is cute.

When I went to the grocery store Saturday morning, it was 24* . I saw a woman walking out of Borders wearing only a lightweight cotton sweater and FLIP-FLOPS!! At least she had on long pants. How does a person stand that cold in flip-flops??? I could understand it if she had just gotten a pedicure, but books?

At just about the same time, I was listening to a radio program on PBS. One of the guests made this remark....."I'm about to open a great, big can of whoopass." I swear, if I had coffee in my mouth at that time, it would have spewed out all over the dashboard. I laughed so hard. I can't remember what she was referring to - but it sure was funny!!

The spammers in my gmail junk box are getting evermore creative with names, in their quest to get around the spam filters. I got one yesterday with the name....."Neuenschwande Stittsworth", and the subject line was "increase your love stickk". Yes, it had two "K's". Jeebus! How could they think anyone would be stupid enough to open that one?!

Those are beautiful cakes. And fascinating. I like the fireworks one. :) Oh who am I kidding. I liked them all!

That first cake reminded me of something out of a Dr. Seuss book.

I would never have thought I would hear any gist of the word "whoopass" on NPR/PBS, EVER. But it reminds me of a really funny moment on the road. We were in Hawaii for one of our clients, and I was playfully taunting our editor while he worked. I don't remember what I said (ain't it funny how that works?), but I hit a sensitive button, and he shouted, "You just opened a whole can of 'Shut The Hell Up!'" I nearly wet myself laughing!

I would never fall for increasing my love stickk, but I fall for "make her worship your pole of steel" every time. I don't know if it works, but my chest hair is green.

I love the cakes!!!!

I've heard the 'can of whoopass' thing before but when one works where I used to work, one hears everything -- and yeah, I was LMAO when I heard it! I speak three languages: English, Spamish and "street".

And yeah, I got the "love stick" email, too. I'm so tired of spam. If people weren't making money from it, it wouldn't exist.

We had a flip-flop sighting at work her in Philly too, where the temp didn't quite get to 24 degrees. Think it was the same woman?

I like the uppy downy one best because it looks like a perfect version of how my cakes tended to end up(and down)

I have a spam catcher...or preventer on my blog page. It is a link that is supposed to kill spam that comes through your blog and helps reduce this nastiness. (It probably doesn't affect your regular email.) I got if from Bob Brady at Pure Land Mountain.

My favortie is the pic of the first cake. I admire the talents that some people have - I can barely make a "box" cake. Grr... As far as the woman in flip-flops goes - idiot!! I wear my flip-flops (sandals actually) from the first day of Spring, sometimes into early November, depending on the weather. But face it...these little piggies get chilled also!

I love the fireworks and the luggage cakes.

That woman would not wear flip flops here I can tell you. It is 4°C at 14.45 but at least the 80mph gales from last night are gone.

Those are gorgeous cakes! I love the one with the sheep. When I get married (second time for both of us), I want a cake like that.

Thanks for sharing these. They really are works of art. I'll be back with the URL to a great foodie blog where the "food artist" uses fruits and veggies to create all kinds of magical things. I think she has a cake blog, too. She's amazing!

I could never be a cake decorator. I'd get 2/3 of the way done and make a mistake.

I'm trying to lose weight and you're advertising cake? Those cakes are too beautiful to make me hungry. They are works of art.

Those cakes are superb! I cannot imagine being able to do something like that. I love to bake cakes but have no artistic abilities or creativity to do the decorating. I am in awe of those who do.

They're very pretty cakes but personally I'd prefer one that tastes good. I can see why the shift goes to pretty when it's an "event" but I bet they don't taste so great.

The cakes are gorgeous. I could never eat one - they're too pretty!

Great sexual (honeymoon) pun on that sheep cake!
