Daddy and His Cookies (and Following)

A comment in yesterday's post helped me to remember something that happened many years ago, almost forty, to be exact.

My son asked for a cookie one afternoon; he was about 3 at the time. I was busy, so I told him to go to the cookie jar and get one. He returned in tears; explaining that the jar was empty.

I said......"I'm sorry sweetie, you need to have a talk with Daddy and ask him not to eat all your cookies."

With great wailing and sobbing, he said..."I did, Mommy, but he can't be trusted!"

Mr. kenju has never met a cookie he didn't like - or a piece of pie or cake or ice cream or any dessert you can imagine. Yesterday afternoon, my son called to check on us. I told him that I had baked three pies, and who they were for. He said I ought to hide my half of our pie, or I'd never get any of it. How sad is that? He knows his dad.

I devoted an hour tonight to signing up to "follow" some more blogs and got down through the "O's". I'll be around to you soon, if I haven't already. Some of you haven't downloaded the widget that will allow "followers" to show up in your sidebar, and I'm sure some of you never will. No matter. I am finding that it is quick and easy to be able to see new posts from my feeds from the Blogger dashboard. I discovered that at least two blogs won't let me sign on as a follower, because they don't allow RSS feeds. Naomi and Helen......that's you! I thought you should know.

I've found it's so much easier keeping up with everyone using Bloglines.

Judy,
In defense of Mr. Kenju - I'm with him! when it comes to sweets everybody fend for themselves!

"Almost...to be exact." That's a good one, Judy.

And that's a good story, too. It sounds like something my kids would say about me and sweets.

Dare ask where the widget is? My recent experience of changing or down loading anything makes me scared. every single ooperation take me twice the time.

What a great way to start the day - laughing! I love the comment, "he can't be trusted" - classic. Thanks for visiting my blog.

I heard on one of the morning shows that the reason McCain is trying to cancel the Friday debate is that he's scared of what Palin will do next Thursday when she goes up against Biden. He's hoping to reschedule the presidential debate then. Can't say as I blame him.

I'm the same way. Totally untrustworthy with a pie. Or any sweet for that matter!

LOL to you son! Poor Mr. Kenju, it must be hard being him ;D

P.S. I tried commenting since the typewriter art in here but Blogger stalled me out. Same thing on another blog. This is the first I've gotten in here this week. That typewriter art is really something! I'd love to see that for real. It should go in the Smithsonian.

We've always said the same thing about the Evil Twin. When Buddy was little, we'd give him spare change or a dollar here or there. He would just leave it on the coffee table or where ever. I'd say, "Don't leave your money just laying around or Daddy will take it to work and buy honey buns with it!". LOL.

My template is old-school, no widgeting capabilities. I get to hand-code stuff! It's neat!

Re: the following....how lazy am I that I haven't signed up for any of that stuff yet? I just bounce around the internet hoping something new and shiny will how up. ;)

I agree with your husband, Judy, sweets are to be eaten as soon as they're found.

I'd eat the other half of the pies....love pies, cookies, cakes etc....

As for adding yet another gizmo, I'm done. i have all of the blogs I read in my favorites and just click away to read them. i am thinking of just cleaning up my blog and having it really simple.

I've got to figure out this "follower" thing--I just realized I have a couple of them.

I'm like Mr. Kenju and cookies, especially non-bake oatmeal ones

The Bottomless Gullet of Saskatoon.

My mom would make Strawberry Rhubarb pies becuase it's the only sweet he wouldn't touch.
