Mr. Kenju's Family Wedding, Part 3

I mentioned in the last post about the wedding that the bride and groom don't look their ages, and many of you agreed. Here is a lightened photo, which shows him better. And the photo below this shows why he may not look his age for at least another decade (he's now 61).

Below is the groom's mother; age 91 and irrepressible, apparently. I had never met her before, but according to mr. kenju, she was a gorgeous young woman of Puerto Rican descent. The groom's father was one of mr. kenju's uncles, and he was Italian. None of them show their age either - at least the ones in our family!

Mama loves to dance! They couldn't keep her off the dance floor, and they didn't want her to get up too much because she is sometimes a bit wobbly. But she would not stay in her chair at all! I know they wished for a seat belt.....LOL. She has a radiant smile and it graced her face all day long. She must have been happy about the wedding, which was the bride's first and the groom's second.

Remember I mentioned in the last wedding post about people who let their small children run wild? Here's one. See that look of rapt adoration on the papa's face? The mother was worse! They thought this kid hung the moon, and indeed, he may have hung theirs, but not mine! And from the looks of it - no one else was as pleased with him as they were. He's cute, but there is a time and place for loud play, and a church and wedding reception are not the right locale! He was allowed to roam at will during the wedding and the dinner, and more than once he almost made a server drop plates, or ran in front of people. The parents were totally oblivious to any problems he may have caused. I hope that they will become more aware before too long, or that kid will be annoying others all his life.

Funny how parents don't see the disruption.

Parents who let their children run rampant should be SHOT!! Shame on them. They are doing NOONE any favors...including their children. That's all I have to say about that.

Ugh, I was recently at a wedding with the same problem, runaway kids.

I love reading about weddings and seeing the pictures. Can't believe their hair is not dyed, lucky couple!!
Can't believe those parents, either, the child doesn't know better and his parents are not doing him a favor, like Joy Des Jardins said above...

I agree with Jeanmac.
Some parents don't see any problem with their *little darlings.*

Oh yes! This is something that annoys the heck out of me too. When I go out (to adult places like pubs which are not family friendly) or to a function, or even shopping I do not want to put up with the bad behaviour of other people's over indulged children! Kids are treated like little demi gods in this country and lord help you if you say something to the parents - you are treated like a child hater which just isn't true!

Judy,

As I was entering a local business the other day I noticed the doormat that read:

"DOGS ARE WELCOME,CHILDREN MUST BE ON A LEASH"

Think they have trouble with brats? Hmmmmmmm!

We have a friend that we were sure wore a toupee when we first got to know him...but NOT. My daughter requested no children at her reception and I guess from your recent post, that was with good reason.

This si why my younger brother should be hired as a reception bouncer...he does NOT put up with shenanigans from his kids or anyone else's. He'd have those parents in fear, and not care about the consequences. :)

The groom's Mom cannot be 91. No fair.

What a wonderful looking couple. I wish them well.

I grew up in a world of: 'Children should be seen an not heard!' I didn't quite agree with that idea. Children must be allowed to have a say, BUT in a mannerly way. They need to know when to talk and when to stay quiet.

Nowadays I refuse to put up with unruly children. I speak up especially where I see danger - as at thr wedding reception. I put the onus back on the parents it usually works.

Doesn't Mama look elegant?

The look on that little Imp's (er, I mean, child's) face shows it all. He's going to be a nudge for the rest of his life...guaranteed !

I don't get the "my kid is perfect" sentiment.

Then again, I was raised in a neighborhood where NEIGHBORS would handle the beatings when M&D weren't home!
