Quotes of Note

To delight in war is a merit in the soldier, a dangerous quality in the captain, and a positive crime in the statesman.

George Santayana, philosopher (1863-1952)

"The greatest comfort of my old age, and that which gives me the highest satisfaction, is the pleasing remembrance of the many benefits and friendly offices I have done to others."

"The happiness of life is made up of minute fractions - the little soon forgotten charities of a kiss or smile, a kind look, a heartfelt compliment, and the countless infinitesimals of pleasurable and genial feeling."

Samuel Taylor Coleridge

"Men are tattooed with their special beliefs like so many South Sea Islanders; but a real human heart with divine love in it beats with the same glow under all the patterns of all earth'[s thousand tribes."

Oliver Wendell Holmes

My brain is a little slow this morning and I had to read each one twice to catch the meaning. Good quotes -- as always Judy.

Hi Judy. Those quotes were a little more profound than your usual chuckles...I've just returned home from a long trip and am not rested enough to appreciate them !

Someday I am going to make up a quote that everybody will have on the tiptoe of their lips. I am going to do this one word at a time, like, the first word is "Shakespeare..." Then I'll just roll on from there.
