Each large bear takes about 200, 000 pine needles! They are made by Richard Carpenter. The email I got these in gives an address for him: mntmagic@custertel.net
He gathers, sorts, washes, trims and hand-weaves the pine needles, and it takes him over eight months to make the life-sized bear.
Richard also carves antlers; whatever he can find: moose, deer, elk, horn, wood, ivory and more. I think his work is very interesting.

Thanks for coming by and seeing my blue star for Anna's Blue Project. You left a wonderful comment - thank you.
Wowie, wow! I love this stuff- almost as much as taxidermy. :-) Look at the claws on that bear! Looks like the claws on our black bears at the zoo, who are very funny and inventive and clever and hard to contain.
Belle, the python had a taxing day but I let her put her head in my pocket for much of the time so she wasn't too freaked out.
That's just awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing!
His work is amazing!! and you are too, finding all these neat things.
And to think I have tons of pine needles and need to get rid of them...
That is amazing!

Very cool! and unique.
Those are outstanding!
Wow. Real works of art.
The bear is brilliant. He must have very tough hands.
GREAT artwork
I e-mailed Richard a week or two ago, when I received that in an e-mail, he answered back, which was amazing, since he said he receives over 5oo e-mails a day!! I don't know how he found the time to answer. But he did, and it was the next day. Very nice gentleman.
