Biiiiiig Lips and Other Musings

(I stole this photo from g*ogle images)

Jacklyn Zeman gets my nomination for the 2008 Lisa Rinna Award for the Biggest Collagen Lips on TV!! Good Lord, woman. You've been on General Hospital since time immemorial so no one expects you to look like a teenager anymore.

The photos in the link show her a few years ago. I was watching the show yesterday and it seemed as if she could barely talk for trying to navigate around those big, floppy lips. Why some women think this is a good thing to do is beyond me. I've seldom seen a collagen application that appeared normal-looking afterward. Of course, I might have seen some and not realized it, but most of them stand out like a sore thumb - and are just about as attractive!

When you want to open your deck or patio umbrella for the first time of the year, don't just stick your hand in there all willy-nilly without checking first (like I did). A wasp stung my finger today and it hurts! :-/ It could easily have been a brown recluse or some other spider, so I was really stupid not to check it first. After the shock of the sting wore off, I got my trusty can of R*id for flying insects and squirted it up into the bottom of the umbrella (and ran back into the house as fast as my feet could move me)! I did that three times, and I saw 3-4 wasps fly out of there, and a larva or two fell out onto the table. After a while, Mr. Kenju and I took the umbrella out of the table, laid it on the deck and opened it slowly by hand. It was clear of wasps, and I quickly knocked the nest off the pole. That will be the last time I stick my hand in something without knowing for certain what I will find.....LOL

Bo Diddley died yesterday. I wish he knew how much pleasure I got from his music over the years. He played a club in Norfolk, VA back in the mid 60's, and I got to see him live! It was great! Rest in Peace, Bo!

In the first place that picture looks bothing like Jachie Zeman---And I'm not talking about the lips....! And Secod THOSE Lips look like those old Wax lips you use to be able to buy from the Joke store or something....!
I'm going to have to take a look at General Hospital and check her out....! I remember meeting her years and years ago with Norma Connolly, who played Aunt Ruby for years and years...And she was such a pretty youg woman, back then...!
I agree with you, I do not understand why anyone does this...That actress married to Harry Hamlin, Lissa something...HELP!

How scary that you had a whole Wasp Nest in that Umbrella, Judy....! Not a good thing to be stung, my dear. I hope that heals up quickly and stops hurting very quickly, too!

She deserves the award. Let's see, she's 55, so those 20-something lips are going to look out of place.

Good advice with the umbrella thing. I woudldn't have thought of that until too late!

The lip thing ... you're right. I don't know who Jackie Zeman is, but I'll trust you. OH WAIT. Yes I do! Ew I don't like the lip thing that's all the rage. It has ruined a few beautiful faces.... look at Meg Ryan.

I guess that's why they make those plastic umbrella covers to use during winter. GREAT post though ... because I wouldn't have thought of that.

Sorry you had to get stung to share the word.

Oh, I do agree with you about the lips!

Glad you warned us all about the wasps. So sorry you were stung.

I would have never ch'd our umbrella - sorry you were stung.
My doc who injects my legs had collagen inj. Her lips looked silly (and by her body language she knew it) - after a bit they were "normal" again and she did not go that route again.Hers just looked like an allergenic reaction - but not good regardless.

There are a lot of in the public eye women that do that lip thing...it looks stupid, silly and pretty awful. As for the wasp thing....I did the same thing but in my mailbox....they nest under the box every year and we had to spray and bat the box a bit to get the nest out.

I agree with you about the lips. I've gotten to the point where I see why people might get a little plastic surgery in this youth-oriented society. But blowing up your lips just looks weird.

HAHAHA! LOVE THAT PICTURE!

The epidemic of collagen lips amongst older celebrities (and others) is so unattractive.

Speaking of wasps; if people MUST have big lips, maybe they could just get a wasp to sting them there. It would be so much cheaper. :-D

Boy, I would love to be her Avon Lady.

She could go through a tube of lipstick in about an hour. I wouldn't need any other customers. I could just relax and see that she got her order of one drum of DEVIL MAY CARE RED lipstick and a paint roller EVERY DAY. She would also need a drop cloth to protect the house and pets from the fall out from her makeup.

I agree with OLOTH , she looks like she is having fun with some of those old Wax lips we used to wear at Holloween!

Rest in Peace Bo. How cool that you got to see him live.

I agree about the lips and most platic surgery in general. I don't see how looking like a wax figure of yourself could possibly be better than aging gracefully.

Nancy, those WERE wax lips in the photo.....LOL. I couldn't find a current pic of Jackie Zeman.

I remember wearing those silly wax lips when I was about 10 years old. Maybe that's her mentality.

Judy,

I laughed my head off when I read that they WERE wax lips. To think that I believed you...You scamp!

Yep, Bo had some memorable music.

I had to go to the link to see who that actress was. I do recognize her although I don't watch the show.
You know it's a bad lip job when you see a person and the first thing your eye zooms in on is their lips.
Nothing about plumped up unnatural-looking lips is at all attractive. For some reason, women desire their lips to be blown up and their boobs to look like two cannon balls sticking out there. Oh, and those surprised expressions they get from having their eyebrows hiked up to their hairlines also look silly.
I'm not opposed to people having plastic surgery. It's their money and their business, but I can comment on how ridiculous they look. I wish some would just leave things alone and realize that we all get older. It's not a crime to have wrinkles.

Well as far as I'm concerned Lisa should win EVERY year. She has the biggest lips I've seen on any star...ever....but, I like her personality...she's got spunk. Harry (Hamlin) must love those lips....

Thanks for the umbrella tip Judy...sorry about your wasp sting....OUCH.

RIP Bo Diddly....

LOL @ the Lisa Rinna Award!

I'm sorry about your finger.

Bo Diddley was a great man who never got his due credit.

I see a wasp nest way up on the wall of the porch... I know it will require my handy dandy gorilla ladder and a pressure washer to get it down. But, at least it looks empty.

I had a bee sting me in the produce section of a grocery store once. I guess he was basking on a peach and I disturbed him... bit me right on the neck. Fortunately, I am not allergic.. to much of anything.

I don't understand those women, either!! Most of them look terrible afterwards and there is no turning back. I'd rather spend my money on different lipsticks...
Hope your finger feels better now!

Those blubber lips are exactly like ones we used to buy as children - they tasted all waxy but were fun to wear in play.
As it is for umbrellas so also is it for gum boots or wellingtons. (I don't know what you call them)

We call Lisa Rinna "couch lips". LOL.

I've never understood why folks aren't just more satisfied with the way they are. People don't know how to just BE anymore.

Thanks for letting me know about your Ferrari moment. I shot one in the garage of my parents' building last year. When we returned a couple of weeks ago, it was gone.

The brown recluses are a bit scary.
I'm spider-wary in general tho. lol

You wanna see collagen abuse, google "Pete Burns." But only if you have a strong stomach.
