Father Goose and His Brood

and Mother Goose also! Patience paid off today. I didn't go to work until 1pm and I watched the windows to no avail until about 4:30 pm. I saw the family coming and ran outside. When Father Goose spotted me, he turned tail and herded the brood back into the grass again. I ran up the walkway and got this shot before he could hiss at me. I love the way he protects his family. His neck swivels around constantly; always alert for danger. Don't you love that golden color of the chicks? I would love to hold one, but the chances of that are slim to none! Papa would eat me alive if I came any closer.
I only made about 25 arrangements today, since I got there late. Tomorrow I have to make corsages and boutonnieres for a Father-Daughter Dance. That should be fun! Catch you later, if I can manage to stay awake.

Your adorable pictures make up for all of the horrible droppings they leave all over the corporate campu where I work!

You are one busy flower lady Judy....but oh they are always so beautiful.

The Goose Family is so cute...even though they leave wretched droppings all over the place. There use to be a family near my husband's office and it was a mess everywhere.

"Little Goose Poop! Better watch where you waaaaalk!"

(For those who don't get it, that goes to the tune of the Beach Boys' "Little Deuce Coupe.")

Judy, I think you should make a grab for one of the goslings, camera in hand to get both the cutest picture of a gosling we ever did see, and of the enraged poppa goose as he does what he does to convince you to give his baby back! What can he do, he doesn't have any teeth!

Fantastic! Where do they come from?
I spotted a cock pheasant in the garden but it hid in the hedges and I had to give up.

I lived in a lakefront home back in the 60's and the Canadian Geese and their "adorable" goslings landed on our lawn. We loved them at first and used to throw bread to them...then, almost overnight they seemed to multiply and our lawn started to resemble the movie "Birds". We were inundated with them and I've never been able to see them the same way since. We lost a lot of outdoor time then since they would hiss and run at us and I had three small children.
(Wow, I'll bet that's more info than you wanted, Judy!)

Judy,

We have a lovely office "Campus" near my home and a flock of Geese came to live there.

At first, the companies let their employees feed the geese and then they noticed that no one could use the walking track they had put in for the employees benefit because of goose poop. It was everywhere !

They have a large retention pond on the property so they got a border collie who chases the geese into the pond . Problem solved!

The geese now poop in the water, and the employees and neighbors are happily walking the track again...

25? You are fast! It must be wonderful to go outside and geese around. I don't see anything here... just cars. Love your flower arrangements where the wedding took place, what a great wedding it must've been!

I love the geese! There are a few who end up strolling through my neighborhood from time to time, looking for Lake Lynn. I should really start posting pics of my cat....
