A Super Bowl....

Of course, to be really super, it would also never leak, and never spew icky stuff back at you!! After our septic system failed earlier in the year, we had some plumbing work done on the bathroom where the septic tank backed up. We have acidic water, and our pipes have taken a beating over the years. That particular toilet took at least 30 minutes to fill after each flush, so if you needed to flush it more than once - you were out of luck for a while. It was hard to explain to guests and embarrassing to have them fill a bucket with water from the bathtub tap and flush that toilet that way!

I am happy to report that it is fixed now. Previous plumbers had said we needed to have all our pipes replaced (all at once) and one suggested we replace the toilet. Apparently that was all hype, since our current handyman fixed it with a few new parts. Thanks, Bill! I said "current" because in just a few days, he and his wife are moving to another state. We're not only losing a handyman, we're losing good friends of 39 years standing. But our friendship weathered former separations and I am sure it will weather this one as well. Good luck to Bill and Alice as they join family. You will be sorely missed.

It's hard to lose someone who knows how to do things for you...especially when they don't spend a lot of your money, and then when they're friends, that's especially hard.

I clicked on Alice's blog. I hadn't gone there since she changed her format...it is lovely. You can tell she's related to Anna.

Oh gosh, I'mm glad that problem got fixed in a hurry, but sorry that next time you might have to call a handyman who's not quite so reliable.

Sounds like the type of friend and handyman you should fly back to your house next time you're in need. That would probably cheaper than replacing all the pipes!

Isn't it amazing when things can be fixed far cheaper than the "you gotta do this" estimates.
I'm sorry you are losing a good handyperson. Hopefully you'll find another soon.

I agree w/Maxine, lol!

Too bad you're losing your handyman and friends. A combo like that is so hard to come by :)

That was so sweet Judy! You know my dad would totally come back to help you...that is just the way he is...

I am sure they are going to be missing you all too but how sweet it was that you four had this time together to reconnect and have fun. I know that I will miss seeing you as well! :)

I will tell my mom and dad about your post...I dont think they have seen it yet!

I have been learning by doing the last eight weeks. I have done carpeting, pressure washing, painting walls, scraping tile, staining wood, pulling and replacing toilets, stripping wallpaper and etching garage floors to get ready for epoxy paint. .... I feel like a handyman... or a very old handyperson!

I just had to come by and try and catch up a little...love those tulips! I did notice that the wisteria here exploded in bloom this weekend! Can sprigs be rooted? I would love to go out where it is just growing wild in the woods and get some to put out in the woods behind our house! It is so gorgeous!

We have three loos but one in the back porch attracts spiders and the one in the hall hasn't got the force of the one upstairs. It's OK with family and close friends but I baulk at saying 'If you want to do anything serious, please go upstairs.'
