Not sure how to title this one.....

Maybe I should say...."How Not to Do It!" or "From Excess to Mess!"

This is the venue I mentioned yesterday. Starting with the pepto-bismol pink walls and ending with the satin pillows on the built-in settee. Everywhere you look there is something either silk, fake, painted or embellished with something.

One well-made cushion and some bolsters would be a gracious plenty here, don't you think? Minus all the ruffles and poufs? Works for me.....LOL. Also in this foyer is a wall with a painted mural. The artist was not bad, but she was somewhat challenged in scale and perspective.

The brushed aluminum champagne fountain; which is horrible enough on its own, but the table has to be crowded with silk flowers and vines, plus a tall glass vase filled with tiny white lights and more silk flowers. The few red flowers they tucked in here because my bride had red in her colors, otherwise, the whole place is a sea of pinks and whites.

The only saving grace is the porch, which, while it does have some excesses of its own, at least has fresh breezes wafting by. I can imagine it is a lovely spot to drink a glass of sweet tea, converse with other guests, and watch the traffic go by. I didn't show you the arch of silk flowers that goes over the front doors. It is about 14" wide and the base is an old Christmas tree stand. It wouldn't look too bad if it were placed in urns on either side, but the stand is left bare and very noticeable. You know who would be right at home on this porch? Minnie Pearl, in her famous hat with the price tag still on!

Mr. kenju and I have had some good experiences lately. We have come to know several bloggers in the area, and we truly enjoy their company. Tonight, we all got together to meet two others; one from up in the frozen nawth, and the other living here. I might have known them both for ages and ages - it was that comfortable. Farrago is really funny, and he has an interesting history. Claire is smart and engaging and has some intriguing hobbies. We're hoping she'll resume posting before long. I can't believe I forgot my camera, but two of the others had theirs, so photos may be forthcoming in the near future. Good food, a few drinks, intelligent and amusing people.....what more could you want for a rainy Monday night?

Couldn't get past the pepto-bismol pink walls. We once lived in a house that had a kitchen (a kitchen!!) that color - I haven't been able to stand pink since.

Meeting fellow bloggers is so much fun!! I have only met two, though. But there is always hope!

We bought our house from the nicest couple, ever. But, I think the former lady of the house might have been the decorator for that... wedding? thing? I've managed to slowly eradicate all the pink from my house so far!

Oh! And I'm so jealous of your blogger meetings as of late. I have to lure unsuspecting bloggers to my place to meet them - looking forward to August, kenju! ;-)

Penicillin Pink! That's perfect. (the name, not the color)

Yay for meeting new people, and people that you can click with right off the bat. What fun!

Froo-froo and satin and lace in large amounts of gaudy is very appealing to some tastes. but not mine.
Meeting fellow bloggers would be so much fun. You are already friends in blogland, so the connections should be easy.

How GREAT that you and Mr Kenju are oot and aboot with fellow blog buddies. Blogging opens new worlds to us!!

Yes, those photos show some serious overkill going on. I'd be willing to sip some sweet tea with you on that porch though.

I just love meeting other bloggers! A lot of fun. Your next trip to Paris, maybe we can manage it!

Stair way to Heaven? Those scenes are OPULENT. As Kate Moss said 'There's good taste and bad taste.'
Great fun to look at though. I hope to meet two blogging friends soon, but I can't persuade MTL to join us.
