Odds and Ends

A multi-level (redneck) mansion. That's one way to save space!

About leg cramps: after the post on it earlier in the week, I put new soaps under my mattress pad. The old ones had been there about a year and weren't working any more. The new ones did the trick - I didn't have one cramp last night! If the soap ever doesn't work, I'll try the corks and let you know.

The new Bunn coffee pot is fabulous! They're pricy, but I could have saved a lot of money over the years if I had bought this one first. The coffee is ready in 3 minutes and it tastes better, too! Speaking of coffee.....Before his stroke, mr. kenju had a nice habit of bringing my first cup of the day while I checked email in the mornings. Thursday morning, he brought a cup - the first time since August 17th. (YAY! He's making progress!)

An unbelieveable carving from the Ice festival in Harbin, China. I'm no fan of ice and snow, but I would've liked to be there while this was being carved.

I love the trailers, wonder if it's an art installation.

Keep us posted on the soap. Has anyone explained why soap?

I keep trying to convince the Amazon to put a trailer up on the bank behind us. Our yard could look just like that!!

Judy,

That must have been a nice treat for you to have your coffee served by Mr. Kenju.

I know things looked dark for you when the stroke happened but we all prayed that he would be all right, and now here he is bringing you your coffee.

He must have felt pretty swell himself delivering it.....

I've heard that bars of soap work for leg cramps, too. But I've never found out why. Do you know?

My hub also brings me coffee every morning, so when I read this about Mr. Kenju resuming his old routine, I paused. Boy, sometimes the small things mean the most to us, hmmm? :)
Here's a coffee toast to both of you, it's well deserved!

PS: I love the redneck mansion. I could live there... once upon a time.

Michele did not send me, this time.

I must write that down about the soaps, Judy....you never know when it might come in handy...! And it is such an easy solution, too!

Oh Happy Day....Mr. Kenju IS making GREAT Progess! Not since August....Bless Him!

I enjoy your blog, so I hate to be a nit-picker. Harbin is in China, not Russia. To be specific, it's in Manchuria, the Chinese region that borders Russian Siberia.

I am going to show John this shot! Looks like all our space problems can go away with a few trailers!

Have a good weekend Judy!

Glad to hear Mr. Kenju continues to make progress -- patience...patience...patience -- and keep at it!

I've seen a lot of trailer parks and mobile home parks, but never one like this photo -- WOW. Same for ice sculpture, except I've never seen any of those large outdoor types.

Keep taking good care of yourself.

Around here, the redneck mansion would be blown into rubble in the next county, first tornado that came through.

There's a house in the next county that is an unpainted shack with an old house trailer attached to the back. On closer inspection, you notice that it has leaded windows and other features that begin to give it away. Inside, it's furnished with Victorian furniture and original paintings. Their previous home was a Victorian house in town that looks like a castle.

That sculpture is incredible. Coincidentally, on my way home from Shanghai last year, I sat next to a very sweet lady, Doris, who had just visited her family in Harbin. I wonder if her family The world can be such a small place.

I'm so glad that Mr. K brought you that coffee. I'm certain it tasted especially good. Congratulations to you both.

That's SOME carving!!
MY hick mansion has six levels with running water and flush toilets on each level. It also has one level dedicated to showing off my antler collection.

Wow. Amazing carving.
Hey, want some good coffee? Ever try Douwe Egberts? Omg, so smooth it needs no cream. :) You can only get it on Amazon and at The Paris Hotel/Resort in Las Vegas.
