Do Yourselves a Favor......

I discovered this link at Ronni Bennett's Time Goes By yesterday morning. I have sent it to several people - and I want everyone to have a chance to see this remarkable video. Jill Bolte Taylor is a neuroanatomist, who details the symptoms she analyzed while she was having a hemorraghic stroke. It is much more than a recital of physical symptoms, and I urge you to view the entire 18 minutes. It is well worth the time.

*********

Tiff invited mr. kenju and me to lunch yesterday; a chilly, dreary, rainy Saturday - which instantly became a warm and sunny (if only in attitude) day - once we arrived at her comfy abode (The Tiny House), some 15 miles from casa kenju. Would you believe that even though I had already been there once, I got lost (this time) twice? *Shut up!*

The Tiny House has been at the mercy of some renovations and redecorating here of late, and it is looking good! Luncheon was served from the grill and every morsel was delicious - from the wine to the brownies and ice cream. I recommend it (they should open a B&B!) It's really nice to tuck into an overstuffed sofa on a rainy day, with a small black and white cat curled against your leg (one who seldoms warms up to anyone, I was told), and have good conversation with a couple of stimulating people!!

Plus, we met Things 1 and 2, who proved to be amazingly well behaved, handsome young men. I'm gonna see if I can farm out my grandsons to Tiff for a while. They need some behavior lessons....LOL

Would you believe that we are about to meet more bloggers? The estimable Farrago is coming to RDU this week, and meeting up with Tiff, mr. kenju, me, and Claire. I can't wait. I love meeting other bloggers!

I blogged about Jill Bolte Taylor last weekend, isn't she amazing? I agree with you 100%...the 18 minutes it takes to watch the video is well spent. I have two bi-polar people in my life and every morsel I can gather about how the brain functions gives me more tools to deal with them. Nice post!

That's so nice - someday I'd like to try to arrange a meeting with some of the gang!

Oh Judy...This Lunch and Afternoon sounds like it was just perfect---INCLUDING the Cat curled up at your feet..(Dpn't you feel 'special' when you hear that 'Oh She Never Does That With Anyone!', given how finicky cats can be....
And I envy you meeting more bloggers, too....How truly nice and special that is!

Hi,
So glad you paid me a visit.
This was very moving.
I noticed the photo of the Fisher Price garage in your previous post. I just retired and moved last summer. You wouldn't believe the number of toys that were in my attic (many survived the move). My daughter was pregnant at the time and took many (including one like you picture)to share with her own.
They don't make them like they used to.

Judy ~ Sounds like the weather in "your day" yesterday matched ours here today. But we just stayed in, cuddled and watched movies! Not a bad day all in all I'd say! ~ jb///

I love meeting other bloggers and Scrabble players. My kind of people. I can't do the video now because it might wake Joe up. He actually sent me a link to the same video. It must be making the rounds.

Judy, i beg to differ with you.
i watched Jill Bolte Taylor's video and i find it to be very irresponsible. The moment she takes a human brain in her hands to add a little drama, the topic becomes very scientific and her talk is very very unscientific and no help or guidence whatsoever for the victims under similar situation.

We've had a plethora of philosophies on our hands designed to make this world a paradise and they are not working, Please look where we are today, marching merrily towards extinction.

I saw the Taylor video via Bob Frank's "Eclectic World" last week -- seems to be really making the rounds. She does have an interesting perspective. Wish more stroke patients could have the recovery she describes having.

It was wonderful having y'all come up to brighten OUR day!

Believe me, the Things were on the very BEST behavior. As soon as you left, the bickering began again. ;)
