Shopping Excursion Extraordinaire!

I took my friend from out-of-town to Chapel Hill today, to tour A Southern Season and eat at their restaurant, called The Weathervane. A clerk looked at me sort of funny when I took out my camera at the cake and confections showcase, so I limited my shots to two I couldn't resist: chocolate cakes and tortes and petits fours. A man walked up to me as I was taking the photo and asked if I intended to try to reproduce them at home. I laughed and said no. I would have explained that they were for my blog, but we didn't want to encourage him, as he was so obviously trying to get friendly. He must have been watching those TV shows that advise men to try and meet women in grocery stores ......LOL.

The photo below was taken at Trader Joe's, our next venue. I couldn't resist shooting a pic of this little girl in her princess costume, but I didn't want her or her dad to know, so I turned off the flash and shot when their backs were turned. Too bad you can't see her face, as she was too cute for words and not at all self-conscious in her fancy dress. A very precocious lass, she is.

Trader Joe's are great places to shop. I wish we had one here. I enjoyed going to the one near us when we lived in CA.

Those desserts look YUMMY to the max!!!
I'm still on my diet, so this post was like pure torture.

That little girl looks adorable.

That little girl will go places - I love it when kids have confidence.

I believe it's most imperative that one wears one's prettiest princess outfit while shopping in the grocery store. it's the proper thing to do.
she does look adorable. :)

and your dessert pics are yummy.

I've had several weird glances thrown my way when i take my camera out to take some shots. But then I think of Carmi who never hesitates and I get the gumption to take a few shots too!

Oh! Please whip out your camera more often! This makes me want to go to a little bakery I see on Kempsville Road between here and the other house. It is new and called Le Chocolatier. Doesn't that sound intriguing? And fattening!

Oh what you have done to this poor reader before breakfast even! Yum, yum, drool!

It is great that you took a picture of that precious child. Isn't it wonderful the way children have no inhibitions about not blending with the crowd? What happens to us that makes us start going along?

I felt the choco-sugar rush just by looking...I'm mapquesting right now the distance between me and Southern Seasons, which I had not heard of, but will now obsess over.

I know the little girl will go far, because she knows that princesses need to wear tennis shoes because what if they have to rescue BlueCrest or chase down the Seventh Swan Prince?

OK, maybe I will give in and take a trip to the beach this summer, so I can stop on the way down to shop where you do.

Adorable princess.

Yummy! It is difficult the child photography thing - thanks to all the weirdos around, even sometimes your own children.

The cakes are works of art! and the princess is wonderful - I love how she's checking out the groceries while pushing her little cart.

I take pics everywhere and have gotten better about the looks I get.

Sounds like you're having a great time. Enjoy.

Those desserts look absolutely sinful...DELICIOUS.

I love what Grannie Annie said about that little girl. Indeed what DOES happen to us that makes us just want to be like everyone else? I want to go shopping in a Princess dress now just because I can.
