Here's One I Forgot

I forgot this one yesterday. It was also in the autumn weddings category. It was pretty, but it didn't require much in the way of thought or preparation, and to tell you the truth, the "balls" of roses have been overdone and I am tired of them. You can't see it in my photo, but on the floor at the four points of the table, there were cylinder vases and pilsner vases with corkscrew willow and other tall branches, festooned with a few blossoms and leaves. That part was interesting, but one of the branches almost put my eye out when I walked too close to it (I couldn't see it in the semi-darkness). In a real-life event, designers need to be aware of those possibilities. One time at a museum opening, mr. kenju almost got hurt when a branch from a buffet centerpiece grazed his eyelid. Luckily it didn't touch his eyeball or it could have scratched his cornea.

//////////////////////

Mr. kenju is HOME at last. We arrived here at 10:30 am this morning, and he was very happy to be "sprung" from jail, as he called it. Our son was with us to help and about the time he was leaving, our first-born daughter came to stay for a while. His first request was to eat something, so I gave him a hard-boiled egg and some toast, with jam we received in the mail last week. One of his friends from NYC sent us a box of jams and preserves made by Trappist Monks. They are excellent, and while that may not be the perfect thing for him to eat now that he has to watch his diet, we felt a treat was in order today. An old friend of mine came this morning and brought us 2 loaves of Friendship bread/cake that she had made and it is delicious!! We all promptly chowed down on several slices of that. For lunch he had a grilled cheese and tomato on whole wheat and for dinner, we had a wonderful meal provided by one of my good friends: linguine with a topping made of chicken breast, tomatoes, peppers and zucchini, with green beans and rosemary/olive oil bread (my favorite!) She took pains to make a meal with little to no fat or salt, which is just what we both need!
Forgive me if I don't visit everyone tonight, please. I am exhausted and mr. kenju is already fast asleep. As soon as the laundry finishes, I'm off to bed. Hope to visit more tomorrow.

Judy....the gala pix were great....but many of yours are better, honestly. You have a real eye for color and your designs are elegant. Glad the mr is home. If he sticks to his diet and does what the doc tells him and you tell him too, he will recover.

What great friends you have doing just the right thing - very heart-warming.
At least you won't have the exhaustion of hospital visiting and as long as you can cultivate saint- like patience all will be well:)

Are you trying to put Mr. Kenju back in the hospital? Serving...hardboiled eggs and toast and jam received in the mail LAST WEEK??? LOL

It's super to hear that Mr K is home and all settled. I agree he needs some special food treats since he has been such a good soldier during his hospital stay. He probably will appreciate some old fashioned babying too.

Best wishes.

Some great food might not be exactly what the doctor ordered, but I bet it'll exert some healing powers anyway. Welcome back, Mr Kenju.

I hope you both had a good night's sleep Judy. I'm sure that great food tasted wonderful to Mr. Kenju. Take care...and have a good weekend...rest up as much as possible.

I know you are relieved that Mr. K. is home safe and sound. Thank goodness he is doing well and has you to help.

he flowers were amazing; I wish I had half your talent and am so impressed. The area where I live is all about Garden Club and such, and while I LOVE, LOVE flowers and am learning to grow them well, I don't think I will ever have that special something that makes an arrangement pop. YOU DO.

I am glad Mr. K is home and the bread and jams sound delicious. Food does taste so much better when out of the hospital and at home.

I would rather you rest than try to comment on my blog. I know you will get back to all of us when you can. Take care of yourself.

Sounds like a full and yummy day, Judy! The dinner sounded absolutely delicious. I have to admit, I have no idea what Friendship bread/cake is.

Enjoy your weekend!
