The View

This was the view from our balcony. The blue tent on the right was ours, and although it looks as if it is housing a vehicle, the jeep was cruising the beach as I took the photo. Click to enlarge - it really improves the view. There are seven of my grandchildren in the pic, but none of the adults in our party made it into this one.

The sea was calm the whole time we were there, except for Wednesday when a storm was approaching. Even then, it wasn't too rough. We were lucky! You can't tell it from this photo, but the beach at that location is very deep (even at high tide) and almost completely flat. The hard-packed sand is easy to walk on, and there is room for dozens of umbrellas or tents between the dunes and the water line. I must sound like a public relations person for the chamber of commerce - but it really is a great spot.

Prior to this trip, I had only been in Myrtle Beach once, when mr. kenju took us on a business trip to Charleston, and we stopped there on the way back home. That was when the children were small; two of them were sick and developed a rash that day, so it stands out in my mind. When the kids were older, they started going to Myrtle Beach with their friends, while we always went to NC beaches as a family. I am happy to have had the opportunity to go to a SC beach at least once in my life and I look forward to going back.

That beach looks and sounds like a wonderful spot. It also sounds like you were very lucky with the weather and the calm sea. I agree with Naomi about the kids sitting at the edge of the water looking sweet. I can remember doing the same many moons ago too! :)

Michele sent me this time!

If South Carolina ever made it into the 21st Century, it would be a swell place to live. Pretty, though.

People here are always amazed when I tell them I've never been to Myrtle Beach. It's THE place to go for fun in the sun, apparently. I'd never even heard of it before we moved here. I love the natural beaches of the Outer Banks, although the last time I was there I was just knee high to a grasshopper.

I haven't been to Myrtle Beach in almost 20 years. I've been scrolling back through your posts, it sounds like you're having a lot of fun up there, especially with the grandkids. They'll have memories of that trip forever, too.
I LOVE the pic of the two little girls in white dresses on the beach, what a precious age.
And the one of the girl with the best smile and food in her mouth had me laughing. Great pics!
Have fun up there, Judy!

That looks lovely. I was at the beach today, but I bet it wasn't as warm as South Carolina, since it's winter here. Michele sent me

I've only spent time at two east coast beaches, Daytona and one in Maine. Both were very memorable enjoyable experiences, the latter with family. Reminds me of the special trip we took to get there.

Your photo makes that beach look very inviting. I think it's really special when families can all be together, especially when children are young.

There's something amazingly powerful about a view of the beach. As soon as I loaded the embiggened version of the picture, I was taken back to a similar spot in Lake Worth, Florida. I had stood there with my wife and children on a similarly lovely day last December. It was a very peaceful moment as we looked out over the water, and your picture brought it all back.

Thanks for that, Judy! I'm so glad you had a great time with everyone. What an experience!
