A Sight for Sore Eyes

Don't forget to click! (the view is much better)
Our last day at the beach, I spotted this group of girls posing for a photographer (the one with the towel); first from the front and then from the back. By the time I got my camera turned on, this was the view. I was amused by the three guys on the right who stopped to ogle the group with such obvious pleasure. But I saw guys doing that all week long - even mr. kenju - if you can believe it. My son and son-in-law tried to hide it, and my brother-in-law was just about as obvious as the three guys in the pic.

What really amused me was seeing how the young girls paraded constantly in front of my grandsons; whether on the beach or at the pool. The girls would seem unconcerned to all but the most the most practiced eye (of which I have two). I know full well that distant gaze and small toss of the hair; the clenching of stomach muscles and deep intake of breath to swell the chest, while walking by a bevy of cute boys. I must have done it a million times when I was young.....LOL!

For some reason, this photo reminded me that I haven't told you about the watermelon we had at the beach. (Anyone see a connection there?) We bought a big, round, seedless watermelon on our first trip to the grocery and since it was too big to go into the refrigerator with all the other food, we put it on the kitchen counter, where it sat for six days. Either we had other desserts or we forgot about it until the next to the last day. After lunch, I cut the melon. It was red-ripe, sweet, juicy and, as I said, seedless.......in other words......it was Heavenly! That was the best watermelon any of us have had in years. Juice dripped down 15 chins that afternoon, and it was the perfect ending.

That's some view! I haven't seen the ocean in years ;D

Sounds like you had a great time overall. Welcome back :)

The way those guys are ogling, I'm surprised they had tops on. Good grief!

"..red-ripe, sweet, juicy..." Are we back to talking about the girls?

Most watermelon left that long would be anything BUT heavenly. This one must have been not quite ripe when you got it. Made me thirsty.

I have never had seedless watermelon..but I sure feel like having a big wedge of any watermelon after reading that lol.

I remember those days, too. Funny, though, but as a lifeguard, I remember doing my fair share of preening as well. Definitely a rite of passage, and you've captured it wonderfully here, Judy.

I practically felt like I was sitting on the beach taking the scene in.

I'd bet Mr. kenju would tell you he might be a bit older but he isn't blind! If there sucked in bellies and thrusted chests every guy within a mile was looking.

LOL! Funny! Those guys are hilarious!

And yes...I drank all but one inch of the 2 liter of dr pepper...and then slept like a baby....I think you can build a tolerance to it if you drink enough. Obviously I drink too much. LOL. ANyways, thanks for stopping by! =)

Oh that is funny. And now I can't wait till we have watermelon in season here. Just a few more weeks.

Michele sent me. :)

To oogle and to be oogled in a ritual for a long time... at least since I was about 5 years old.

Oh man, the LAST thing I want to do in a bathing suit is parade around in front of guys. I sort of slink around with a big terrycloth coverup. :)
I've enjoyed your beach pictures. This is the first year in a while that I won't be going to Ocean Isle Beach, and you've made that a *little* better.

Very odd photo. Here via Michelle's.

What young ladies...???
Oh and I can see the relationship between above mentioned (alledgedly) young ladies and watermelons... That would be the colour of their skin if they hadn't put sunscreen on, no??
Here from Michele's this Friday evening...

I'd be pleased if a man stopped to ogle me. The older you get, the better you feel when someone notices. Sounds like you had a delightful holiday. The baby shark was most impressive.

Great photo Judy!
funny., no matter what the age, boys will always be boys.

I do that on purpose with watermelon 'cept I cut a hole in it and add a bottle of vodka, then let it sit for several days.

This is summer.

What was happening? Were they being photographed for a mail-order bride catalog or something?

Those three guys would go crazy over here watching the young girls who sunbathe topless in Europe! There are other not-so-young-girls too, whose partners should tell them to wear more than just the bottom piece of the bikini, lol.

The watermelon sounds like a nice vacation's perfect final scene!!

I would certainly never oogle so blatently. Of course, I've spent many decades practicing my discreet oogle technique so they'd never even know :-)

Sounds like you're having a great vacation Judy. It's been years since I've done one of those, but now ya' got me thinkin'.

The beach provides the men a parade of skin.
If I'm in public in a swimsuit, I have a sarong around my waist, hanging down OVER my ample bohunkus.
I need full coverage! :-)

That watermelon sounds yummy!!
We've been eating honeydew and mangoes lately.

I love the perfect watermelon.

Last week I let Rachel pick out a watermelon and it was the worst one I'd had in a long time.

Too bad you did not take a picture of everyone eating the watermelon.

It would make quite a souvenir for the whole family.
