Photos of Australia ~ Part 1

When my daughter sent these photos to me, there was only a little explanation of where they were taken, and I didn't write it down (as usual). I do think all of these are from Sydney, but Peter can set me straight if I am wrong. Feel free to jump in a tell us what were are seeing, Peter. I know, of course, that the top pic is the Opera House, and the bridge is in the harbor where the Opera House sits. I will show you the rest of the pics periodically. It was raining nearly the whole time she was there, so only a few of them show a sunny day. I wish our grass looked like that in the bottom pic! Do enlarge them.

Thanks for the travelog. Isn't it wonderful that we can enjoy other parts of the world! It would be wonderful to go, but to enjoy through the eyes of another is good too.

Wow. Beautiful. I've never been, but every time I see pictures of Australia, it tweaks my travel bug to head there someday.

Hi there,
Photo 1 is the Opera House as seen from the Custom's House side.
2. Not real sure about this one, but I think it is near Ruschutters Bay??
3. Sydney Harbour Bridge from Circular Quay!
4. Is Circular Quay from the top of the Opera House stairs.
5. Urn in Government House (former Home of the Govenor of NSW). It is located on the Eastern Terrace in the grounds.
6. Government House looking up from the Eastern Terrace. These lawns are Queensland Blue Couch and have been there sine 1875 (ish). These grounds are kept by where I work, the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney!!!
Enjoy the pics, and I can send some other pics as well, just drop me an email...
Here from Michele's today...

Hi Judy, Sydney isn’t a city I’m overly familiar with but with Wazza’s help we seem to have sorted out your photos;

1 Yes, we agree this is very likely the Sydney Opera House.

2 This one requires a bit more thought, will come back to it.

3 Probably the Sydney Harbour Bridge… or a very large coat-hanger.

4 Taken from the forecourt (or rear-court) of the Opera House.

5 An urn with a cactus in it in the grounds of Sydney University.

6 The Sydney University with bits of the city skyline showing.

Now for more on that troublesome #2 photo;
The best we could make of it was, a large lump of sandstone at the edge of the water, with several yachts and a big dog… can’t see the dog??? perhaps you can hear him? roof, roof, roof, roof, roof.

Hope this helps Judy.

(Ooopps, wish I'd read 'b's answers before I wrote this... duh praps she is right???

Australia is a place I would love to visit (well, parts of it as it's so big) and these pics rekindled my wanderlust!

I've always been intrigued as it is the other side of the world from us in the UK!
