A USPS Update

As was predictable, there is nothing to report. Back on April 25th, I told you about the problems I've been having with the Post Office not forwarding the mail I received in my PO box after I cancelled it.

I wrote letters to the local Postmaster and the manager of my local post office branch, and after six weeks, I had not received a response from either of them.

Taking your advice, and I wrote to the Postmaster General; sending his letter and copies of the other two on April 30th, by certified mail with return receipt requested. On May 3rd, he signed the card and on May 8th I received the receipt. It is now May 21st, and I have still heard nothing from any of them.

Where do I go from here? The local newspaper? The TV station? The President?

When the latest price increase went into effect, I had 57 of the old 39 cent stamps. I had bought a supply just a week or two before. I refused to buy the forever stamps they were hawking, since that would mean paying more, before it was necessary. But I had to stand in line for twenty minutes to buy some 2-cent stamps. Midway through that line I realized that if I had a business line card, I could have gotten in and out in short order. So, I applied for the card and I hope I get it before the next price increase (which may come sooner than we expect)!

I bought the forever stamps. I only use stamps for cards. I never used any until last week and the price had already gone up once. Yahoo!

I bought a few forever stamps and am using them. I also bought some 2 centers.

I am so sorry you are having Post Office problems. Our area here has wonderful postal staff and very helpful people where I am moving.

I am going to do a change of address this next month to the new house and we will see how that goes.

It feels like the Postal System has broken down, along with so very many other things!
I ordered some two cent stamps on-line, along with some Forever Stamops----that was over a week ago. And NOTHING! Usually I will have the stamps I order that way within three days, at the most...Something is very very wrong and your story absolutely proves it, Judy.
Yes, the Newspaper and The TV Station. Forget The President. He hasn't gotten anything right in ALL the years he has been in office...so, I would by pass him!

If those stamps I ordered dpn't arrive today, I am going to ask my wonderful PostWomen about what I should do! I'll ask her what you should do, too!

Oh Judy, what a saga this has become! Hope they get back to you!

Ha! I see that the US Post office is no better than the French one!

Looks like it is the same the world over !

I'm not surprised....you haven't made enough noise. Forever stamps until the Post Office says "I know we said it would be forever, but we changed our mind!"

I went to Post Office the other day to buy some new stamps and had to wait in line for 45 minutes!! The USPS is getting to be ridiculous!!

I read an interview with the NEW Postmaster for Raleigh last week.

He just took over - and is a transplant from Philly, PA. I would check the N&O online for last week - and hunt him down first.

If HE doesn't respond, then take it to the TV.

Maybe your complaints got lost in the mail.
Yep, that organization fell to pieces when I left.

I remember the days when postage increases weren't so common! Ugh! It's such an annoyance.

The Post Office should improve its services to stay in business in these times of e-mail, but instead it's getting worse - same here in Brazil. Lots of complaints in the paper about lost mail, and they don't even bother to keep stamps with the right values available, sometimes you have to fill the envelope with many stamps...
Well, maybe those "forever" stamps mean you have to wait in line forever to get them...

I am curious about those "forever" stamps...We have no reliable Post Office, at least not in the Spanish community we live in. Lack of personnel, disorganization, you name it. Bills are fortunately not paid by mail here, otherwise the chaos would be complete...
Good luck!!!

I go to the post office at UNC and it's rare that I have to wait over a minute or so. When I bought some 2 cent stamps last week I just walked directly up to the counter. Not a person was waiting...

YOur comments aren't showing for the movie post. I enjoyed The HOliday as well. Even though a chick flick, it had more substance than I expected, particularly from Cameron Di*az.

Have you been to Vicki's blog? Some wacko has gone nuts in the comment section.

Hi Judy... to answer your question, there's a huge difference between the theatrical presentation of a Broadway musical and Pan's Labyrinth. I don't have the constitution for disturbing movies , no master how masterfully creative and innovative. I also was clear that I acknowledge PL's creativity.

I think everyone can see plainly the difference between Pan's Labyrinth and musical theatre, or your other example of Disney. The fact that they share fantasy elements and theatrical presentation has nothing to do with the feeling they give me when I watch them. I don't watch disturbing or frightening movies because I don't like the way they make me feel. That's the only reason. :)
