More Green Scenes & Idol Thoughts

The promise of lilies...

The promise of gardenias...

>>>>>>>>>>>

Yesterday was the best weather I can remember in a long time: high about 82*, the lowest possible humidity, sun and a few puffy clouds. I played hooky from housework; I sat on my deck and read a book for two hours. Tell me why I shouldn't feel guilty? Today is supposed to be the same, but I have to go to work. I think I'll still carve out some time to read.

Last night was the American Idol season finale - and darned if they don't know how to put on one heck of a good show!! Some of the high points: Gladys Knight singing with the girls of Idol, Tony Bennett, Bette Midler, Carrie Underwood, Ruben Studdard and Jordin Sparks singing a great duet, Melinda and the Winans, Taylor Hicks rocking the blues. I'm sure I've left someone out, but on the whole it was a really good production. There were two low points: Kelly Clarkson screaming every line of her song, and the band Green Day singing "a working class hero....is something to be-ah"......on and on and on....the same phrase repeated over and over....ad nauseum. Dear God, can't they write some better lyrics? Or even some other lyrics?

The best part for me was the Beatles' music medley from Sargent Pepper. I could listen to the Beatles 24/7 and never tire of it, I think. They all did well. I can't wait for next season!

Beatles medley was my favorite too, I think. Esp. Carrie Underwood's turn. Was a great show, and I was so happy that Jordin won.

I agree with you wholeheartedly about Kelly Clarkson...she sounded like she was angry as she screamed out her "song". What happened to her?

All in all a very entertaining 2 hours though I could have done without the little awards that they gave out to some of the "worst" of....

I love gardenias, Judy. And reading books outside too! I didn't do that today but I did read on my deck on Mon-Wednesday after work.

As for your comment on my blog, Judy, antibiotics are the main strategy used against H pylori when treatment is deemed neccesary. Since most people are non-symptomatic, anti-B's are only used in bad cases.

Hi Kenju! I agree with you about reading outside in nice weather & about the Beatles in general (I've never watched Idol I'm afraid)
Here from Micheles.

I love your green photos. I've never watched idol either. Someone said that they didn't think that Bette Midler was at her best.

I too love gardenias. Looking forward to a photo of those :)

Cant wait to see the gardenias as well!

And we do watch Idol over here....and were very glad that Jordin won....did you know that she goes to the same Christian camp that Sadie, Alex and Sarah go to in the Ozarks for two weeks a year? It is called Kanakuk. It is a sports camp that has been around since 1926.

The kids think that is pretty cool!

I had this on in the background but wish I had paid more attention--really a class act, most of it. American Idol, whether we like it or not, has gone legit.

Love the promise of lilies. I planted 20 or so new ones this spring and can't wait for the blooms. I've forgotten the colors so it will be a surprise.

I was going out to photograph m money plants this morning as well. They are so pretty blooming and the resulting seedpods are just so unusual.

I'm on a quest to rid myself of bittersweet vine that just won't make the berries it should.

Sounds like you spent a beautiful day in the best possible way-reading in the outdoors.

And I agree with you about Kelly Clarkson, too. I used to like her a lot, but something happened to her!

I enjoyed the American Idol finale too Judy. I agree about the Green Peace song...and Kelly Clarkson. I wish she would have chosen another song...she's got a great voice. I could have done without those silly awards too....hard to watch that part.

I was happy that Jordin won...sad that Melinda went when she did.

Hi Judy, was Taylor Hicks the 11 year old with a magnificent voice who had a youtube of her America has talent appearance some time ago?

Even the promises are beautiful.

Lovely photos. I'm a garden fanatic as well, but not as talented as you are!

Even though my daughter auditioned for this year's "Idol", I must admit I only caught pieces of it here and there - mostly at the very end.

Great photos. I especially like the shadows in the second one.

It's 88, sunny with high humidity here. No porch reading on my off day today.

Two Beautiful Plants, Judy....I hope you will share the flowers when they appear, too!

For me..."American Idol just goes on toooooooo long....And then they even went OVER the two l-o-n-g hours....I just want to know who won....They can do that in less than a half hour....Again, just my opinion, but I didn't think the "guests" were all that good...I LOVE Toby Bennett and Bette Midler...Neither were in top voice....LOL! Sorry my dear Judy....But I too, loved hearing the Beatles Medley....And that song you mentioned that just went on and on and on....like the show itself...Double OY!

Last year American Idol was shown here just one week late, and sometimes I managed not to read the spoilers on the Internet for the whole week. This year, though, they're 3 or 4 weeks behind, and it's impossible not to know the results in advance. Anyway, it's nice to see a show that the whole family can watch together...
As for the Beatles, same here!

I certainly hope you get more of that great weather.

I haven't watched Idol the last two seasons. It got boring to me just like Survivor did.

Lovely photos with great floral potential. :-)
